Hi there, hope someone may be able to help...
Got a new rifle, was very pleased with the condition with it when i got it, and after stripping her down and cleaning was even more impressed, it was almost unfired, borel bright and shinny plenty of rifling and the gas cylinder was the same.
Anyways put it back together and load a couple of dummy rounds for a test.
F&$% it didnt extract, tried again and again and again. Stripped the bolt replaced all internals and tried again - still nothing F$%$
So i am guessing i have a headspace problem as the extractor is not fully engaing the rim of the dummy round, as if i push it from the barrel using a cleaning rod i hear the shell engage.
So i guess i have the following questions for all the experts:
1. Is it a headpace issue ?
2. Should i fire the weapon to see if it extracts ?
3. How do i fix it
4. What instructions do i give to a gunsmith to fix it (we have limited gunsmiths here and most would know nothing of m14's)
And i guess before i turn it into an expensive parts gun, i should say it is a USGI H&R M14.
Thanks in advance

Failing that, is your extractor spring there and working? If the case isn't extracting at all, thats going to be your culprit. If she's so far out of headspace that the claw won't engage the rim she'd not fire in the first place, or if she did, she dissassemble herself in a very rapid manner you wouldn't enjoy. Send a pm to Hungry, and maybe post a pic of the bolt face side of bolt, and maybe one from the right side of the reciver showing the bolt closed on a dummy round or fired case. (you could use a live one, but I'm not gonna tell you to in your living room
