F.A.S.T Times?

Shot my best FAST ever today:

5.62 (clean)
Splits:1.89, 2.37, 4.56, 4.95, 5.31, 5.62 (obviously lots of room to improve)
Glock 17, 124g Wolf
Safariland 5188 Holster
Paklands vest
This was my 3rd test, and the last of 200rounds I put through the pistol today.

1st test: (cold, had not shot in two weeks)
10.14 (6.14 +2+1+1)

2nd test:
8.12 (6.12 +2)

Yes, I was pissed off at the first two tests.

My sloth draw has evolved a bit. I don't really flick anymore, I cup my fingers and move my hand to the gun. So I guess I blade on the draw, kind of.

I definitely blade when I reload.

P.S. I'm firmly convinced Vogel is an alien sent to earth to make other shooters feel shame and self loathing at their complete lack of ability.

watch and learn, Bob does not flick, he just goes for the gun and the vest moves.

Rob his video on shooting IDPA is quite clear how to get the vest out of the way. It is not "just going for his gun". His action is fast and effective. For the mortals just going for your gun runs the risk of catching the vest with the gun. Adding keys or similar weights to the vest pocket is legal and helps get the vest away from the gun. He amakes that suggestion in is video.

Clobbersaurus The planet is located on the other side of Venus and moves at the same rate as Venus. That is why we can never see it. The name is Vognes. God help us if he sires a half dozen children. It may be years before anyone else wins SSP again.

Take care

Bob

If you watch the above video in slo mo, he goes for the gun. If you talk to guys like Ernest Langdon (who will be here in July) they will tell you the same thing. Go for the gun, the vest will move out of the way. If it doesn't, use a different cover garment. If your gun is catching on the vest, it's a vest problem, not a draw problem. The fastest shooters simply go to the gun, either blading the hand or just pushing it behind the vest.

I did it today, all day, that was pretty much the only drill I did for 4 hours, started at 8.8 and ended up at 6.25, from concealment, with a HK P30.
I did it with my Glock 17, from concealment, best I did was 6.93.

Lots of fun. Love this drill, can shoot it all day.

I don't want to throw water on your post, it's great that you are practicing, but it's a test, not a drill.

Three times max per session and your first test should be done cold.

Also, what gear were you using?

You should edit the title Clob, you don't need the word Test in it as the T in F.A.S.T. stands for test

IDPA legal gear, including legal cover garment.

Fixed it for you, used my super secret mod powers (took me 15 minutes to figure it out)

Shot my best COLD F.A.S.T. ever today:

Glock 17, LCW 124g
Safariland 5188 Holster
Parklands Vest

6.41 (clean)

I hadn't shot for two weeks. I didn't get a chance to shoot the other two tests as I got rained out at the end of the session.

1st Cold: messed this up totally by loading three rounds in the gun on the first mag. Didn't complete the test.

2nd:5.46 +2H = 7.46

3rd: 5.35 +1B = 6.35 (1.76, 2.13, 4.43, 4.76, 5.07, 5.35)

Beretta 92g Elite II
Blade-Tech Holster
Parklands BDU Vest

Haven't shot in three weeks.

5.86 clean.

Beretta 92g Elite II
Blade-Tech Holster
Parklands BDU Vest

This test wasn't cold, as I had a holster course to complete today (new range rule). My second test was ruined by another failure to fire with Barnaul ammo, never again will I be buying this stuff. I've seen light primer strikes on Glocks, M&P's and Beretta's now. The primers must be made of adamantium or sumpin'. I didn't have time to run a third test.

OOH, OOH - AAR on the course!!! LOL

and yeah, this last batch of Bernaul has the hardest primers I've ever dealt with - I had misfires with a brand new, not touched in any way, just out of the box G19 - on the first mag.

Nice time on that one !

I haven't shot since our last IDPA match about 2 months ago, buit finally hit the range today for some practice time.
I didn't shoot the test cold, but had 3 FAST targets with me so decided to use 'em.
1) DNF -I messed up the reload (drawstring on a new hoodie) and stopped there.
2) 7.52 +2H = 9.52 :(
3) 6.84 clean !!

M&P 9mm
Comp-Tac holster
Stupid Blackhawk hoodie (not to be used for this again LOL)

^^ I remove the drawstring on my hoodies just for that reason. Sometimes I use them as cover garments at the range. Drawstrings, tabs and pulls just aren't safe when holstering and unholstering. Good work on the FAST's.
