PGW single shot action, A5, 31.5" Broughton 1-12" 5C, NF BR 12-42 in burris sig. zee rings, sinclair 1st. generation fclass bipod.
.223 f/TR
Rem 700 SA, Manners stock, 22" L-W, Leupold/ premier 4.5-14 40mm M1
Rem 722, A3, 27" Rock 5R.
Course of fire is genarally 2 sighters and then 10 or 15 shots on score, at whichever ranger we're shooting that day. WE'll often shoot 2 or three distances to make up a match. We're also generally squadded 2 shooters per target. In this scenario each shooter keeps the other's score, and we alternate shots on the target until both shooters have completed the course of fire. In Ontario they have a class called F(M) Class, M meaning Manufactured class. Not sure if the other PRA offer this.
There are a few things you are allowed to do with a F(M) rifle to help improve it. You can have it recrowned, bedded, and you may reshape the original stock ie build up the cheek piece. Must be a rifle available off the shelf in a factory offered chamber.

Ontario is definitely ahead of the game with the M-class. In BC the "M" class is only done at the club level, but I am going to be working at changing that as much as I can. We will be holding introductory clinics in BC and I WANT people to show up with off-the-shelf stuff. One of the lessons I hope people will be able to walk away with is that with the odd variations, most factory rifles shoot about the same. It boils down to shooting skill. This is where the TR shoots are such an individually competitive thing... The equipment - for all intents and purposes - is the same; the difference is in the shooter!

This rifle started out in the M class before there was an M class. More modifications to happen this year.
As for stock equipment, I just started this year in F(TR) and I'm using a Grunig .308, a Vortex Viper scope, and a green nylon Caldwell front rest bag. Granted that the Grunig isn't cheap (I inherited it), but you don't have to sink a fortune into this to get started.

On top is a 6 BR built off of an XR 100 , MacLennan barrell, Kelbly trigger, Nightforce NXS 42x scope and N/F 1 pc 20Moa mount, 31" 1-8" twist I feed it 105 Lapua's.
Bottom rifle
6 PPC , Barnard Action, Robertson stock, MacLennan barrell, Kelbly trigger,Nightforce BR 42x scope seperate N/F rings, 22" 1-14" twist I feed this one 70gr bergers.
Both triggers set around 2 oz. Mil dot on NXS, target dot on BR.
NO, the BR is not Obtunded's rifle, we both just have very good taste !

If you look at the actions, most F class actions are common commercial products. The Savage and Stevens get rebarreled with little else done to them. The Rems get the basic blueprinting and maybe a bit of bolt body work.
Yes, there are true custom actions like Nesika, Bernard, etc but you are in no way handicapped with a quality rebarreled REMAVAGE.
Many of the stocks pictured are what came with the factory rifle - XR100's.
I think that is one of the big reasons for this sports growth. You don't need to spend mega bucks to be competitive.
I have always been a supporter of a 'factory' class. However, there are many factory rifles that cost as much as a semi custom rig.
Savage has really stepped up with some superb rifles for various shooting disciplines including Fclass. For an off the shelf product, they are the leader by a large margin.
However, the costs of these rifles are in the $1200 range. For that much money, you can put a semi custom Stevens together which will shoot better.

I shot the last shoot of the year a couple of weekends ago with the above 6 BR. After just losing the press I had been using I used a cheap turret press instead and had some rounds that chambered nicely and some i had to force to close, this caused a pressure issue and my score was effected.
Alot of the matches are won in the basement at the press not just on the range, learn to reload well and consistantly and if you have a rifle that shoots well consistantly you can win.
One of the guys that beat me (and he did it by a fair bit) did so with a FACTORY RIFLE, Savage F-Class in 6.5 -284.

6mm-250 30 degree custom reamer, McMillan FClass stock, sleeved R700, 30" Gaillard Bbl 1:8 twist, Jewel Trigger, Nightforce 12-42x56mm BR Scope, under 17lbs, also has a second 4lb steel check piece to take her up to 21lbs for better balance. I use a Remple front rest with windage top (seen in second pic).
I'm spotting for Inspector, he's using a RPA in a Robertson on a Remple Pod.

Ok, Popcan, here's my somewhat budget rig: the only expensive bit being the Swiss made Grunig & Elmiger in .308 that I inherited from my Dad. The scope is a Vortex Viper 6.5-20X44 ($509.00), and the bag isn't a Kolpin, it's a Caldwell that I paid about $39.00 for.
This is what I used at my first try at the precision game at the Frosty Farky in September. Not to suggest I wouldn't like to have some of the custom rigs you've seen in this thread, but just to say you can do this without breaking the bank.
btw, I had a ball at the Farky, and you'll never find a more welcoming group than the F class guys. C'mon in, the water's fine!
