A few people have inquired about Tube Guns again so I thought I'd post some details of the F Class version (bag rider). The original kit has been modded some but
the concept is to have an action that can be switched out to suit different needs. The Kit is designed for the Remington 700 action.
This one was built off a PGW M15 action with dual bolts (308 and WSM boltfaces) and is set up for easy switch barrel and calibers. There are now 4 different forends and 3 different butstocks that are swapped out to meet needs. The scope rail is 25 moa buit in.
This set up as shown carries a Broughton 30" 1n8 straight taper in 260AI.
The forend has been set up with a 3"wide bag rider and the butstock is a Magpul with custom bottom rail to ride a 3 stitch bag.Inside the Magpul and inline with the bore is an 11 oz mercury recoil compensator balancing the rifle to center and negating recoil impulse.(It tracks straight and you can watch your hits)
It's scoped with a Nightforce NXS 12-42 to help see that 5" Vbull.
This has been designed for quick stock removal to make it fit in travel case.

The REASON I am posting this is that there are a number of people looking to build a precision rifle .The basic TUBE GUN kit that Kevin builds is extremely well thought out and is set up to be built off your basic Remington 700 action.
Pricewise the kit is competitive with most traditional stocks but this design allows you to add on or change set ups fairly easy.
Assembly is straight forward .Grips, butstocks are anything that'll fit an AR.
Customization is encouraged!!Just as wild as you can trick out an AR you can do the same for this NON restricted Bolt Action AR.Repeater Kits (magazine) are available so you can even set this up for your next hunting rifle.Swap out some pieces and you've got a competition rifle.
Just wanted to give you some build options that don't have to cost outrageous to start and gives you room to add on.
Here's a few pics

No I am not associated with Kevin's business other than as a satisfied customer. You can find Kevin by TUBE GUN Google search.
I believe that these kits can provide a viable options for a shooter who wants something a little out of the norm but still practical.
See ya'll out at the range

NIce Post!
I have been looking at the Eliseo R5 but this has added something else to drool over ;)

cheers,
Craig

R5's

Thanks Craig
The R tubes are primarily a TR build off a Barnard action and are very nice but do not have the same butstock configuration for AR style stocks. All in all both give an AR style feel to a built rifle.I think we'll be seeing more of this type on the mounds this summer.

Is there a Canadian Importer of these? I am really liking the repeater and the fact I can use my existing Rem 700 in 260rem has me thinking.

Price is very comparable with an HS Precision stock...

If you already own a Rem 700 you're almost there.
Contact Kevin at The Original Tube Gun (google) .Pricing for kits are posted.
Only thing you need to ad AR buffer tube and butstock, AR grip some Devcon or JB weld and a bit of patience. If using existing barreled action, you'll have to have the recoil lug ground off or removed. The tube doesn't need one.
Assemble and gtg.
Check with Kevin ie latest requirements for Canadian shipping.
The mods in the pics (squared forearms are my builds but are obtainable) kit comes with round firearm.

Nice rifle. Hope she shoots as well as she looks.
How is the forend attached it looks like it has 4 hex bolts clamping the forend to the receiver block, have you had a chance to shoot it and does the forend flex from the recoil
Do you have to put the rifle further over the bags to eliminate any upward pressure.

Trevor, It shoots very well, match proven. NO flex at ALL .Lower COG than most BR stocks.Better shooter than present skill level..
Tracks straight back in recoil as it's balanced and has 11oz merc recoil comp directly behind bore so recoil impulse is straight and low.
Other Tube, first build ,was on a Rem 700 with round forend tube to shoot off a pod.Pics of it are on Kevin's site.It was shot at Provincials off pod in 05.
3rd build is under way and will be even less traditional and fully experimental.
Because of a good solid center core (sleeved action and pistol grip) all sorts of variables can be added to stock design as they are easily swapped out without messing with central action. One fellow even turned his build into a "hunting handgun" (US ).
I think they are worth consideration for a precision rifle build.

I can attest to the accuracy of gords gun ,when he was fireforming even at 100 he was making one slightly large hole. And at 300 it wasn`t much larger.

Terry please tell the specs on that!!!

Barrel and length? what is it shooting and what is it shooting like?and why is the bolt on the wrong side?:D

Just for you Jamie,
6.5x284 setback barrel Broughton 28" 5C, 1n8 twist. Remington 700 action, Magpul PRS stock, forgot the grip name/model...it's ambidextrous, 4.5x14 Leupold tactical Vari-XIII model, MAK tube of course.
139 grain Silver Scenars at approx 2940 fps, H4831 powder, 20 thou off the lands, 5 shot group 4.5" at 785 yards (lasered)...first load tried. Velocity was extrapolated using the come-up required to center the group from a 100 yard zero.
Lefthandedness is a gift, not everyone gets it.:D

Terry,
Beautiful job.Am sure we will see a few more of these on the range this year.
Just to let others know , just how difficult was the build in your opinion?
How do you find it for shooting for fit and comfort? How well does it track in recoil?
Oh and for what it's worth, Kevin advised me that this was the last of the left handed kits.
Will see you at Mons on 20th Terry if all goes well.

Gord, it was real easy to put together. I paid a gunsmith to do it. He had to machine the recoil lug and headspace the barrel, so what the heck...he might as well glue in the action also. The fit is good as the stock is adjustable, but the buttpad is more narrow than I'm used to. A couple more sessions with it, and I won't notice. This rifle has a tendency to track straight on recoil, assuming the body position is proper. I never lose sight of the target during recoil.

hope the rumor isn't true about no more left hand models
Looks like the price on mine went way up.:D

That's it I think my LTR needs the Repeater Kit....now to sell off some stuff!!
