youtube nutnfansy FN FNAR guys. as much is I yo yo on if I like or hate his reviews he does a good bit on them... including the mag I don't know if he posted up solutions or not to it but I think you guys should watch it... grab some pop corn and a book... dammed review is long 48 min long. but a lot of usefull information there including mag information. (no I don't own an Fnar im an M1A guy)

I take back what I said a couple posts above about the mag -- mine is different. There is still the weird screw in the top of the follower that doesn't actually contact anything, but it doesn't have the big ugly one on the side, rather it has a more tasteful smaller rivet in the spine that protrudes enough so that if you tried to load more than 5 rounds then either a round or the follower itself would get jammed on it and not feed properly. I was able to fit 5.5 rounds without issue. So it may have been the same job to pin these mags (based on the identical follower screw), but there evidently is a difference in the batches.

Irunguns said that the screw and washer in the follower wasn't done by them. Apparently the mags came that way from the manufacturer.

From the looks of the mag, had they crimped any lower (one more cartridge) it would have distorted the mag catch opening causing issues inserting or locking in the mag. Also if the rivet were any higher, it would interfere with insertion to the mag well.
Seems that a better way of neutering for compliance would have been from the bottom using a pin threaded into the thick base.
Looks like 5 round mags will be the likely only way of getting five rounds.

Or they could have dimpled the mags out in the middle of the body well forward of the mag catch, like other manufacturers do...?

Intersting. This is what a non-limited 10 rd looks like:

Notice a rivet inside a raised plastic circle on the follower, so that serves SOME purpose? This is much better looking than a phillips screw and large washer though...?

After watch his I was going to order one until I watched the video on stripping the thing down. Way more complicated than an M1 or a mini 14.

I spoke to Wanstalls yesterday - they indicated that the mags are en-route, and they will be replacing the 5/20's with a '5 round mag'. My guess is that means a short 5 rounder to avoid the pinning issues. The mags are a 'couple of weeks' out - nothing more specific than that.

Don't forget to contact me about mags pls. :) I hope they are 5/5s.

Actually they are 5/10 from factory, limited by manufacturing, they are by far the best for reliability and finition, they are punched/marked 5 rounds on the mag body... JP.
