Fact or Fiction? Does a heavy guide rod reduce recoil or muzzle flip?

Just received a reply e-mail from CRAFM and they wrote:

We don’t have the guide rod in stock, but we have some on order. Yes it is
Production legal.

Why don't you just wait when Phil gets back to you and then tell us what he says.

Mo, hold your horses yet. :D

I was running with the original plastic guide rod on my Shadow since I bought it before the 2010 Provinicals. I just swapped it out for the CZ SS guide rod recently and ran it for the Peterborough match.

Honestly... I didn't feel a difference. I actually forgot I had it installed. I only remembered was because someone one at the Peterborough match picked up and holstered MY Shadow instead of their own.... Grrrrrrrr :HR:, and looked it over.

Yeah,...and I have a problem with that. I think it is just rude for anyone to pick up my pistol without my permission,..BUT,..you should not leave your pistol unattended on the table. Just fyi.

It doesn't really concern me,...as I am content with my stock 2 bull barrel + stainless OEM guide rod:p
No fear though,..I am sure a few emails will be sent off to CZ and it will be listed as an OEM product as an option for CZ's in the near future.

Yah I know. But I had to use washroom and I wasn't sure if I was allowed to carry holster in the club room. Should have asked but didn't and placed it on the safe table.

If at the end one can't use the CZ SS guide rod then on biggie... I just swap it out before a match. For me it was a Bling Thing.

But the search and results are leaning more towards legal especially
when it IS offered as standard equipment by CZ-USA on these two Shadow models:
http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/75shadowT/

http://www.cz-usa.com/products/view/75shadow/

And that in itself would be a very strong argument in favour of the CZ SS Guide Rod installed in my Shadow as Production Legal.

What do you say to a IPSC member who just acquired one of the two mentioned models.... Sorry... you're in OPEN because it has a CZ SS guide rod that was installed at the factory regardless of the Production list and Appendix D4 - 19.... Love to see that happen.

Neither of those are in the Production gun list. I might be wrong, but I think they are produced by CZ Custom and just sold by CZ USA.

We all will wish this guy luck to get his new and shiny gun into the Production list. In a mean time he can shoot Standard. But if he declare Production division at the match and caught that his gun is not in the list, he'll be promoted to Open, you like or not. This is just the rules.

PS: to moderators, it would make sense to split thread about Production legality of the stainless rod for Shadow into a separate one.

I'm getting the sense you are disliking me.

Not at all. You just unnecessarily noisy. :)

Wait when you get all bits of information and post them together instead of posting every piece... In my understanding you still haven't heard from NROI on this. The whole issue is simply about the rules and it has to be addressed trough the proper channels.

No more no less noisier than you. :)

Just responding the replies.

This is is great info for those looking into getting a Shadow and the do's and don'ts and will hopefully clarify everything and again all evidence is showing legal in Production.

You are right on one thing... this should be a different thread yet someone mentioned OPEN division when all I said was I felt no different to the OP's question. :)

IF you want to feel the difference that a guide rod can make shoot the same gun back to back with a few different ones.

I have 7 guide rods for my Glock 22C as I wanted to see what kind of difference (if any) they made. And you can tell the difference with a few. But as many have said it will not really improve your shooting. Nothing can come close to proper shooting technique and a lot of practice.
