Fair price for an Smith & Wesson M & P?

Canadian prices on new handguns are absurd.

The S&W M&P goes for about $400.00 in the USA, so does a new CZ75. Even adding the exchange factor & taxes in, it is still far too high a price. I don't buy the argument about Canadian distributors being lower volume & so they can not get huge volume discounts. Volume dicounts should be predicated on realistic volumes.

That said I don't think Canadian dealers are to blame, they are also paying too much. It's the same situation with new cars, we tolerant Canadians are getting well & truly f--ked.

I just bought one at Battle River Sports last week. Cost me $690.00 with tax and they threw in some ammo.

I also saw one at another shop for $899.00 plus tax.

I'd say it's worth every penny as so far it's been an excellent pistol.

Geez, who wants one of these S&W M&P's anyway...

What's wrong with the M&P? I love mine

I'm bringing mine to a little bullseye match my club is holding. It's the most accurate centerfire I've got (I really need to invest in a good revolver). I'm going to get slaughtered but at least it will do better than my 1911.

Maybe they're good... but on the one I saw you could see daylight thru the side between the frame & slide fit...

Not going to argue with you there. Mine has a couple mm gap between the frame and slide where you can see through. The slide fit is tight though. It's mainly becuase the steel inserts in the frame that the slide rides on that makes it sit up a bit.

I haven't put too much through mine yet. Only 200 rounds. So far its been excellent. The accuracy is better than my norc 1911 and its god a bit of mods done to it.

The trigger took some time to warm up to but its predictable and not overly heavy. For a service pistol it's pretty well built. Not sig quality, but not bottom of the barrel either.

Like I mentioned in another post between my father's Glock and the M&P it's really a matter of personal preferance, neither stands out as the better pistol.

I have over 2000 rounds through mine and it has been great. I still can't get used to the 'cheap' feel of a glock and probably won't ever own one for that reason. I'd buy another M&P first...maybe a 9mm to complement the .40, and therefore can use the same holster ;) I paid $679 at E.Epps last November. A great resource if you haven't been there is the mp-pistol.c o m I have just ordered two more mags from Jester and they're on their way for a total of 7.....can never have too many........

Picking up two more new guns tonight :D a Beretta 90-Two and a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.

Tuff to beat the $619 at Gobles(til 20Jun or while supplies last)..Too bad they arent a sponsor but maybe someday. I prefer to support sponsors but when a price differential is that great, it makes it difficult to be supportive every time.
Cheers
