FAKE LaRue Products

Be aware of fake LaRue handguards coming into the country. I have recently purchased one through a private seller. It's a fair copy and if i didn't already own a few, I might not have noticed.

The response I got from the LaRue tech:

That rail is as wrong as two boys kissing. Go get your money back.

Here are some pics of the fake AND a REAL DEAL:

Slightly different font is used for the motto

Small variations of the logo (Font, Texas outline)

360 degree insert (no rotation limiters)

Wrong size hex key and keeper is rough looking

Large cooling holes are off

REAL LARUE 10.0 Below

REAL ONE Notice the "R"s

REAL ONE Notice the more defined Texas, the location of the 10.0 and the QD Socket with rotation limiter. Also you can see that the large cooling holes start directly inline with the first slot in the side rail.

This is the kind of thing that has a person like myself that is relatively new to gear only buying off accredited dealers and folks in the EE with stellar reputations.

Either that or I will involve the police. I will give them EVERY opportunity to do the right thing and I'll assume they were completely unaware that they were peddling knockoffs.

Well that gives me a heck of an idea on where you got yours from and if I'm right I'm very happy to not have bought from that person.

I had the same thing happen to me. It looks like you got the exact same one i did - Anodizing is type II and not mil-spec type III. Barrel nut is slightly different than the Real McCoy too.

The guy I bought it from claimed ingorance after i pointed out all the faults. "I got them from a friend who knows a dealer who bought a bunch, Blah, blah, blah...they are real."

No, they're not.

I tried to contact LaRue with the guys info to try and get him to stop selling them. They just ignored me. So it's still on my rig. And the guy is still selling them...

I hate airsoft.

x5 name them.... Im surprised that they thread onto the upper properly. You'd think the airsoft people would have a unique thread or something. But on the other hand-- if they were allot cheaper than the real deal; are they any worse than the Chinese made UTG stuff we can buy thru sponsors?
