I just bought a larue eotech quick release mount from someone on the board, and it fits loose on the rails on my benelli m4, swiss arms, and tavor, and by loose i mean it slides back and forth front and backwards a couple mil's.. how do I know if its a real one. I found its looseness, which happens even with the quick release lever closed and locked strange since my acog larue mount locks up fine on all of those guns

Either that or I will involve the police. I will give them EVERY opportunity to do the right thing and I'll assume they were completely unaware that they were peddling knockoffs.
Isn't that a little like going to the cops to complain that a dealer sold you fake weed?

You aren't stupid. When you purchased these products you knew that they were almost certainly brought into Canada in violation of US law, but you bought them anyway. Now you want to hold someone's feet to the fire for fraud under?

You know what they say about stuff you buy out of the back of a van...

If it is the same thing I am dealing with there was an add on a suppliers website. There is no reason to believe they were imported illegally.

Yeah , but that would be naive since Larue do not sale to Canada beside some contract with the RCMP. If it's coming from there it's the real deal and you all should lay low :stirthepot2:

In law it's called "willful blindness." When a guy sells you speakers out of the back of his van for half the retail price, you know (or ought to know) good and well that they're stolen.

Buying from a dealer is one thing. Legitimate dealers would never threaten their ability to deal legally in the US by selling illegally exported goods, so you have reason to believe that everything is above board.

However, when a private seller is offering something that dealers cannot because the paperwork is nonexistent you ought to know what's up. It's the same as the people selling stolen DND property in the EE. It doesn't come with a big sign saying "STOLEN" but if you put two and two together it's pretty clear.

I don't doubt that I am a bit naive in the ways of gun import laws but if I can't trust I sponser on the GCN then who can I buy from?

Wow~

Read all posts... I agree to a point about it being buyer-beware. However, the people who bought the "fake" Larue products paid "real-Larue" prices (hell, maybe more?); the assumption was that the items were genuine.
That my friends is where the crime has as occurred; I'd bet money the seller made an absolute killing on those items.

If someone sold me a Rolex watch, told me it was real and I paid real-rolex pricing, then it turned out to be fake, well, that's called a scam and I'd get the police involved quick!
Since the Larue-seller is a dealer, there is no reason to assume these items were stolen (or fake).

P.S. None of these items are illegal in Canada, so, the police CAN be brought in; I don't agree with the drug analogy.

Not to mention the fact that they were sold as "real". If someone sold me a "Real ROLEX" and it turned out to be fake, well, that's called a scam.

Want to know how much? Well here are some examples from a site in Hong Kong (free shipping BTW :p)

http://www.ebairsoft.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=larue&inc_subcat=1&search_in_description=1&x=0&y=0

For the OP's front end, it was probably purchased for about $59 USD with free shipping....

Wow this shop is insane
