Fake Leupold Scopes.

Many people do NOT buy Norinco products, myself included. LRB Arms IS awesome, but there are 3 other people who make nice M14 pattern rifles state side for cheaper then LRB Arms, non are Chinese.

Mmmm, but none as nice a LRB ( of course I own a LRB M25 Medium Match so I have to say that eh ) :)

We won't agree on the fake stuff but let's both enjoy our hobby anyway !

Cheers

Well you did get an incredible deal at $100 so I'm not sure that you should be basing your statement on what you paid...but more on the quality of the scope, of which older Elites are quite good scopes.

What the scope retailed for brand new :$425.00

Yes, I got a smoking deal!

But the cost "parallel" I was getting at is: Most of my scopes cost $1000.00+ And a scope of (450.00) new, or the $100.00 I paid for it (really a moot point) shoots nearly as well! Its nice to get more than you expect from any product these days!

It seems that industry want to produce the cheapest possible product, and still charge us like they are hand made of gold! High % Profit is too important these days! A fair profit, and Pride in giving maximum VALUE to a customer seems to be a rare bird these days! Just the way the world works I guess.

Oh, I get it now. Well I have been very impressed with the Elite line. Was told from a reliable source that some of them have the same glass as the NF NXS. That being true, it is no wonder you are impressed.

Apologies fellas. I was at work when I posted and didn't give a bit of insight. To stick with the topic, here's my initial opinion out-of-the-box. I still have yet to spend range time with it - I may even go on Good Friday to try it out. Anyway, my scope is the Leupold Mark 4 M1 4.5-14x50mm clone. $90cad shipped back in february 2015. Arrived in march. At first glance, it feels solid. No different from the other scopes I've seen at gun stores. Right off the bat though, there are some very, very minor scratches to the finish here and there. I notice it, but it doesn't really bother me to be honest - maybe if I spent $1000 it will probably bother me. The parallax, diopter, and magnification knobs were stiff at first. They are still stiff now, but not as stiff when I took the scope out of the box. Both the windage and elevation turrets have a slight problem. The clicks going one way is pretty accurate. So the lines line up per click. However, going the other way, there's a bit of play. So, if I were to click 1 turn, I'd have to click back because the turret is telling me I've clicked twice. But it doesn't exponentially grow - you just have to turn back 1 to line up the lines properly. It's not really a big deal when you see it in-person. As for optics, well I've looked through a demo Zeiss scope at Al Flaherty's and it was pretty good. I believe it was a 3-9x40 scope. I'd say the optics of this clone is not up to par. It's not tack sharp, lacks a bit of contrast and colour vibrancy. I dare say it has chromatic aberrations - but I could be dreaming. However, can you see the target downrange? Yup. Is the view nice and big? Yup. Is it bright? For me it is. So far, I've only been able to bore sight this scope at 30 yards with my chinese bore sighter, and the only real problem I'm having is that the Talley scope mounts (yup that US made product) is not properly aligned with the receiver. So the scope is sitting slightly sideways in relation to the bore. Not sure how this will translate at 100m, but I'll keep you guys posted.

$4000.00 Budget, $1000.00 for the rifle and $3000.00 for the scope, "STANDARD RULE", but what do I know?

You dont need to spend $3000 to get a quality optic. $1500 is plenty and for 99.999 percent of the shooting world you will see no advantage spending 3k. If your getting dropped out of a plane into hostile territory,,,yeah maybe a $3k S&B is a good bet but I doubt many CGN'ers face that.

You obviously are rich or dont own many guns. Id have over $21 000 in optics if I followed that formula...Id love to have that much in optic but it just isnt practical for most shooters.

A $250 bushnell 10x40 fixed power will get the job done. But you won't be the coolest guy out shooting.

Being awesome isn't cheap.

Also its questionable weather or not its legal to import a fake optic.

I was just reading about legalities after the other thread got shut down.

It's not illegal to buy counterfeit products from overseas, but it's illegal to resell them here, though I doubt anyone cares unless you're importing for the sole purpose of resale.
It is however illegal in many other countries.

Canada Customs has no legal way to stop import and we're one of the few countries that still allows it. There's a push to change that, as counterfeit products cost the economy billions every year and many products are cause for legitimate health and safety concerns
