Does the parallax adjustment have distances on it?

None of the newer models have it. Falcon got rid of the distances because too many customers were complaining that they were not dead on accurate. What most people didn't realize was that parallax is affected by a number of environmental factors and cannot be accurate in every single case.

It is unfortunate, as they were a nice "guide" to get you close and then you could further dial it in as needed.

I have to say that I like the approximate distance marks on the parralax adjustment. I was looking at some pictures of the new Falcon scopes, compared to mine from a year ago and also noticed that like many scopes they have gone away from the distance markings. I think this is a shame. It's nice to have a quick reference marker to fine tune from.

I agree totally. They were great as a reference. Unfortunately too many people expected them to be bang on and Falcon got tired of the complaints, as I suspect many other manufacturers did.

In keeping with my advice re: Falcon Menace/Merlin scopes, I bought a second one today from Frontier http://www.frontierfirearms.ca/ also!

Don't buy ONE, buy TWO of them!

So my Falcon SIR 1.5 x 5 x 30 will have a cousin, a Menace 4.5 x 15 x 56mm EMildot & MOA. Frankly, Tiriaq's advice pushed me into the 2nd Falcon and this will sit on my Precision Rifle (read: sniper rig) to be taken to the Nationals (NSCC) this August. :D

Now I gotta wait for this unit to be delivered from Frontier and then I'm off to Ellwood Epps for some serious scope covers. Butler Creek Flip-ups, of course.

Ok, but why would I pay more by ordering from Frontier rather than Allen gun works? Same product, etc. You're paying about $30 more for the same product.

I agree it's a decent product. I use a fair number of them.

AND to make things works... CyberK offered me a great deal on a barely used MOA 4.5 x 18 x 56 a couple of months ago and I had my thumb up my (metaphor) ass and did not jump. :( So I ended up paying more. Either way I still have my 2nd Falcon and I am able to support a dealer on this board. It's win-win for everyone the way I see it...

Peace be to journey

Where are Falcon scopes made?

A lot of the components are made in China. The glass is mostly sourced from Japan. Some parts are made in the UK. The final assembly and quality control is done in the UK. They also travel to China quite often to QC the manufacturing there as well.

Anyone who has one can attest to there durability and overall workmanship. The QC process is very strict and I have had orders delayed for the smallest thing. Things that would have probably gone unnoticed by most customers, but Falcon would not let them leave until they were perfect. Like any other manufacturing process, some lemons make it out the door but our return rate has been very low.

Not knocking Falcon, as I have never owned one, but I have to wonder...If they are that committed to QC, why do they only have a 5 year warranty?

Probably because they don't do the volume that the other manufacturers do. Longer warranty doesn't necessarily mean better product, it just means the company can afford to replace more scopes :)
