fall bear HUNT

So who's hunting bear this summer/fall and what are you packing weapon wise?

I got a week and a half in mid september and bringing my 4570 double, my stevens 2506 1 of my mossberg 12ga and my 9422 22lr

hopfully im going on my first spot and stock black bear hunt this summer/fall. ill take my savage 10 scout in 308 using 180 gr nosler partitions or barnes ttsx 168 gr. i will also have my ruger 77/44 with barnes vor-tx 225 gr bullets or some win white box 240 gr sp. i really want to try with my bow first though.

I am planning on going. Have to do my final checks on dates and such in the WMU I am going to hunt in. Will be using my 303b. Had it out doing some siting in and it is dead on accurate. My luck is that I will not see any bear though. LOL.

WE are going in August and using Hoyt bows...

I'm planning on using the 4570 for bears. 2506 for wolf. Can't leave with out a shotgun and the 22lr for grouse

I dont' think Ill hunt bear actively but Ill have my No.4 - 45-70 Handy...plenty of them near the cottage.

Going to try it with my excalibur vortex. Not the greatest xbow to be mass produced but it ought to be able to drop one.

I usually buy a bear tag as a just-in-case kinda thing... But this year a few of the younger guys in our moose part are going to try and thin out the local bear population, which has gotten well out of hand with light-to-no hunting pressure in our area. Ill bring along a 94 rifle in .32spl for tight spots and either my .270 M77 mkII Ultralight and 150gr partitions or my Savage .338 with 300gr Bergers if I decide to sit in one of our moose stands. we have some real bruisers in the are and calf populations are suffering noticeably. Should be good for a nice rug!

I plan on taking several long walks with my 9.3x62 ove r the next couple of years. Unless something else catches my eye in the mean time!

I may sit on a bait on the cooler evenings. My trusty Ithaca 12 bore model 37 Deer Slayer loaded with Federal slugs will be on my lap. It never lets them get away.

I'm going to try for a bear this fall for the first time. I'll be using my savage .270 with 150gr Nosler partitions.

We'll be deer hunting in an area with good bear populations. I'm just going to carry a couple calls and every time I come across fresh sign I'm going to call. Give it a try.
I'll have my blr in 450marlin with 400gr hawk sitting on 50gr 3031. Unless of course my son is borrowing that for elk, in which case it'll be a win94 in 30-30 with a 150 hornady. Forget the load, just over 1800fps with 3031.
