fall bear HUNT

Ya they're kinda like squirrels that way. Not much meat but well worth the trouble. My fiance don't eat wild meat so I can usually get enough bear and deer meat to get me thru the year. I had a great year last season shot 6 deer and 1 bear. Also got 55lbs of meat from the deer I hit with my truck. 2 turkeys and lots of rabbits. Ill actually have meat left over for the opener which is rare

I plan on going out and "trying" in the port carling area
on sept 1st with a Remington 870 with slugs.

Question: Ontario hunting regs say semi or repeating shotguns
Must be plugged to 3, does that include pump? I thought this was
A water fowl reg?

Isn’t Port Carling in WMU 53 and opens on September 4th for Bear?

Whatever I happen to have in my hand while hunting other species this year. -.223, 260, 300WSM, 303 British, 375 RUger, 45 Colt -are the likely suspects.

Meaning a BOW to me is a recurve or longbow...no wheels, let off, sights, ect, ect.

I love reading the guys who use compounds hating on crossbow guys...to be they are 95% the same :p

Oh... I thought you were being funny... but you were being arrogant... that's why I missed it... so how do you feel about all the gun hunters on CGN??? What's that in your avatar???

Totally cool with it. I hunt small game only currently with my recurve or a rifle.

I was making a joke as I have seen a lot of compound hunter come off as some mega awesome, skilled hunter but at the same time they look down on crossbows. They both are pretty much exactly the same...compound and xbows...just one is upright and the other is not...both have sights, triggers, arrow rests, ect. are are a far cry from a an old world "bow".

You can say the same thing about todays rifles and shotguns as well.

I'd love to take a bear with a bow eventually. My long bow isn't strong enough. Due to a shoulder injury my recurve is out. I can draw my compound but can't hold it so that leaves me with the option of my crossbow. If I ever go on a guided hunt I may use a crossbow over bait but until then I love to stalk around the berry patches and clear cuts. I do hunt over bait but can't sit still more then an hour or 2. I've taken bear with a 12ga slug gun and a 2506. This year hopefully with a 4570. Next year will be blackpowder for any stand hunting. That's the great thing about bears. They can be baited in and taken with a wide variety of weapons. Modern or primitive. Good luck to all hunters this fall
