fall bear HUNT

Here in bc we can't bait bears, no need to anyway. On the island here there are bears everywhere when you get out onto the logging roads. Me and my Mathews switchback will be hitting the switchbacks in search of yogi from aug 25th until dec 10th every chance we get

I wish I had the opportunity to hunt bears that way! I'd much rather spot and stalk instead of sittin' in a tree gettin my butt chewed by bugs.

Cant wait for Aug. 15th to hit. Have been baiting off and on for the last month. Will start getting serious this week or next.

Spot/Stock (if I get the time to)- Kimber Montana in 270 WSM 130 TTSX

Stand/Bait- Kimber Montana in .223 w/ 75 Amax OR 60 lb Bowtech Invasion

Me and three other fellas will be hunting opening week at a spot just north of Gravenhurst (Ontario). There will be a mix of compound bows and crossbows at the camp. I'll be using my Excalibur Vortex. About a month away now. Can't wait. :D

Ill be hunting the 2nd week of september. Ill find a way to post pix if I'm lucky enough to tag a bear again this year

Last year was tough. Warm weather and it seemed no bears would touch a bait untill I used molasses the last night. Took about a 300lb dry sow at last light with my 2506. 80 yard angling away almost broadside. Flattened her with no exit wound and nothing of size could be recovered from the bullet this year I'm bringing my double rifle. I can't wait

After actually weighing all my wrapped meat from my last two (average sized) black bears, I was fairly dissapointed by how little meat I really got from them, so I'm being much more picky about shooting bigger bears from now on. I won't specifically go out for bear (most likely), but bay shoot one while out doing other hunting or fishing. May shoot it with anything from 7.92x39 to .375 RUM, whatever is around at the time.

Agree with you on that. It really doesn't take much longer to care for a big one, and they taste just as good, especially when they've been in five acres of cranberries for two weeks.

Ted

I found this also. I shot a runt last year and figured since Im the only one in my entire family, immediate and extended, that eats the vermin that he'd do me well.

I ran outta bear meat in December I think? Shot him in September...
