Hey guys~I've always been intrigued by this action, and never put-off by the idea of a single shot. Recently, skimming through the EE quickly..I think I remember seeing a heavy barrel Browning in .223, falling block action. I never associated these guns as being anything but higher-caliber hunting guns..can't say I knew they existed in lighter/varmint calibers. I'm now intrigued! I do have a few questions, and hope someone here on CGN can offer me some insight.

1. Is there a Browning or Ruger (#1) heavy barrel, falling block, made in .223 or .204R?
2. How does their accuracy stack-up against a bolt gun costing the same?
3. Browning doesn't list these guns anymore (that I can see), the Ruger #1 doesn't seem to be available in these calibers currently
4. Guns are worth what people will pay for them, but what kind of price range for a nice specimen?

Thanks for taking a moment to reply, photos welcome! :)

Yes to both... plan on $1200- $1500, depending on version and condition.... all of mine were very accurate.

Ruger still produces it's #1 but a few years ago they changed the line up from multiple calibre's to 5 or 6 models each a different calibre in that year only. So it changes year to year. They had a #1 heavy barrel known as the #1V(varmint). They were available to all dealers until 2016 when they were removed from the regular production line up and made into dealer exclusives. The 2015 model was a 6.5 Creedmor. The 2016 was a Lipsey's exclusive in a stainless/walnut 26" barrelled .223. They were listed at $1399(US).
I sold my 1V 22-250 on the EE about 2 months ago and I see the fellow who bought it from me listed and sold it in the EE about two weeks ago. Keep an eye on the EE. They come up regularly. Last week a 204 was listed and sold immediately. As Hoyt says about $1200 seems to be the starting point for anything in very good condition.
