Famae SG540/543... owners like them? Hate them?

I had one.... I was like the 25th ish person in Canada to own one, I drove to calgary the day after the first shipment arrived to pick it up.

I wanted to love it, it felt good, the weight was good (not to heavy not to light), it had that second cool, it ran reliable.

but it wasn't for me.

the problem I had with it was the same as many people.

The lighter ammo it threw it like garbage... like 3-12 moa depending on brand.
to through 150's sub 2 moa, you needed to load hot. And then it kicked like a mule. IT actually bruised my cheek and shoulder.
the rear stock would wiggle loose from recoil, even with lock tight.

I was left choosing to either shoot minute of barn, or bruise my face. I actually developed a flinch from this gun. I paid $3600 plus $200 for a bipod, $200 for an optics rail and $100 for an extra mag. When i got $1900 for it 6 months latter I felt like I won in divorce court.

What kills me is that the best .223 rifle I have owned is an AR...and I have tried just about every NR you can get. Our laws are garbage...

I had a SA...but have never handled one of these.

Ouch, I hope I have a better experience than that!! With luck I'll get to shoot it this weekend (snow allowing), so we shall see...

I think you will enjoy it. From my limited time with a 540 I can say it is a soft recoiling, smooth shooting rifle. I can't comment on accuracy however.

Well, bought one, and so far, I'm impressed. Fit and finish are probably a bit better than my mini SAF was. Looking forward to getting it out into the woods :)

Still kicking myself for passing on that little guy... still looking for one to complete my famae family. Don't suppose you know anyone that's looking to sell theirs?

I got a 542 around thanksgiving, but have been out here on the west coast with work since then..going back this weekend and planning to bust her out. Curious to run it side by side with my xcr-m. Definitely a great feeling gun - from what I remember of holding it after unpacking it ;p

So, what's you experience? I finally got it consistently at 2MOA 10 rounds group with 3x optics with Remington UMC 150gr. It goes banana to 4 MOA after barrel heats up.

What i like a lot - barely any dirt in the action. Just a bit on the bolt face and under extractor. Very clean rifle.

Now I am tempted to get SG540. Is SAN worth $1500 premium?
