What is the general feeling about FAMAE? since this is a licensed copy I imagine the quality wil be up their, but how would these compare to the Swiss Arms rifles like the up coming SAPR?

I am relly hooked on this rifle, I was looking at the SAPR but this looks like it will be quite a bit more affordable.
+1 Anyone seen/heard/read a side by side comparison with one of the Swiss built rifles? Not to knock Chilean craftsmanship by any means, but I can't recall ever having seen something produced there and am curious about the quality. One of the strengths of the Swiss Arms rifles is their attention to build quality.

was the SG 542 a preorder type deal only? will they be available for sale regularly? (as in can i buy one once the registry is gone?) or do i have to wait for another order...?

We have not started taking pre-orders. Not until the sample is approved.

Tactical Imports,

If I want to preorder an Famae SAF mini, can I still?? or are all of them already spoken for, for this batch??

thanks

Yup, you can still put your name down

Famae has seen an increase in their fit and finish over the years; many subtle changes has their products turn pretty high end. The fit and finish of Famae products built today are not the same as 10 years ago.

If the quality is anything like the Swiss Arms I'm definitely interested! Have you heard what the accuracy is like compared to the Swiss arms?

No way this is going to get approved! $20 says the RCMP will reject it due to faint similarity to MP-5

The fit and finish on the Swiss issue rifles is not the same as on the commercial versions. For what its worth. Function is flawless but they don't take the time to smooth out cosmetic bumps. For the fighting man, its no issue. I'll gladly take rough looking famea's. these guns work very very well folks.

As to accuracy, see below. This is 25 yds indoor when testing different ammo. Flyer was called.

Sniper###, sorry to jump in on you here as well but, as per below I have owned these for quite a few years. Both a 9mm and .40 version.

I like them. As has been mentioned before, their only real issues have been the mags (which are horrid) and spare parts. This appears to have been rectified and i look forward to putting a few more rounds downrange than i have in the past with them. Accuracy is above par in my opinion. The groups above were 10 rounds each, not 5 with the 9mm.

Pure awesome. $2500? Great (the cheaper the better but $2500 is doable). If these things are in country before the XCR-Ms (and it looks like there is a good chance they will be ), put me down for one.

Oh, and those MP-5s are f-ing cool! Can't believe I've never seen them before. How muchy?

The 542 is a high interest item. Some of the 542s in Canada are converted autos. Anyone have details on the SIG/Manurhin as a straight NR non-CA registration in Canada?

I had actually inquired with the RCMP labs sometime back as these can be imported from Belgium. They sell there for about 500 - 750 Euros. I got a "Prohib" FRT number.

My hope with the FAMAE is that they do not come back "Variant" of the prohibited 542s or that they take 4 years to grant an FRT.
