Thank you folks for all the kind words.
Seems odd as life went on with Bill. Started out with him as a youngster asking me about hunting and fishing. What gun to buy and how to fix this or that. To decades later me asking him, where should I hunt this fall. What do you know about this rifle and its ballistics. I got old and it was nice to have the young fellow for advice and friendship and a strong back when mine wouldn't haul the load anymore. Going to really miss you Bill
First off, I would like to say that Bill was indeed knowledgable, but even beyond that, willing to help and a fine member........ He exemplified what this site should be about..... And never "got into the trenches" in an argument....be simply backed off and did his own thing..... Much respect.....
Secondly, I used to get a giggle out of his sig line of "rifles to acquire in no particular order".... Don't we all have that?..... But he put it right out there...... Not an ounce of brag about him...... I even remember him saying cash was tight when he had to sell of a rem 700 on the EE and sheepishly asking for a price....... There was not an ounce of pretension in him...... What you saw as what you got..... And that is hard to find in person these days, let alone online.....
Thirdly, he was just a straight shooter..... I shot x with y, here is what happened....... He admitted his failures and successes and again, was one of the most "face value" guys we had on here....... I aspire to be as transparent as he was......
Again, my condolences to you and yours and especially to "little white dove"...... Watching them post in the same thread both affirming eachother while picking on eachother was a neat experience.....
I have a VERY short list of CGN'rs I would like to meet...... Bill was among the top......
