This old fullstock Sako M38 .22 is also probably my favorite rifle, not just my favorite .22.

Favorite? Don't have a big collection, nor do I really have a favorite really. For me, it's the experiences attached to the guns that elevate them in my heart/mind. Topping the list (in that case) would probably be my 452 Varmint in .22LR. That thing can shoot, and loves being in the gopher patch. While it hasn't earned it's keep yet, I'm also pretty smitten with my BRNO 2E. I've spent as much time admiring that gun as I have shooting it. lol However, I'd probably sell both before I'd sell my Anschutz 1450. Comparable gun to my CZ or BRNO (not quite...but almost :) ) but that gun is almost solely responsible for my love of firearms...and it's also the first one I ever bought. Looks the same as the day I bought it, but it would be impossible to estimate the number of shots through the thing. Simpler time for me too. Easy to decide what gun to take shooting when you only have one! lol Can't say the guns I've added over the years have made me any happier.

A norinco believe it or not. The ns522

I bedded what ever I could and truly free floated the barrel it's got a awesome trigger out if the box hammered barrel and I love it.

Since I no longer have my Anschutz 1416D with double set trigger and Schnabel stock, my favorite .22LR rifle would have to be the CZ452 Scout. It is and does what I believe a .22LR should be and do. Compact, light, quick handling, durable, reliable and most importantly, accurate as its bigger CZ452 siblings. On top of those, she is pretty good looking and well made, fit and finish wise. If made to choose which .22 to keep if I only had one, it'd be the Scout.

It ain't no gopher getter but my BSA Martini Int'l Mk II goes to the range half the time.
It is equipped with PH25 target sights . . . one set for 100 yards/meters and the other for 50's.

The Anschutz 1416D HB has probably taken over the CZ455's a Varmint and an American.

Right now it's a toss up.
I love my Model 41 Smith & Wesson but,
I recently purchased a CZ 452 Varmint & Scoped it with a 30mm Sightron STAC 4-20 x50AO.
Besides the Burris Signature Zee Rings & DIP Rail, I have only added a YoDave Kit & extra power Striker Spring so far.
I just received a DIP Extended Magazine Release, & a DIP Action Screw Kit with Torx heads.
These will hold me over for awhile. Later, I am going to order DIP Bottom Metal & a Magazine well.
Much later the rifle will be finished off with a Boyds Laminate Thumbhole Varmint Stock.
Then there's my 10/22 Build
Who said rimfires don't break your piggy bank, but they're really fun. ;)

I sold my bolt Savages and CZ's and only have a Norinco NS522 and an 80's vintage heavy barrel Anschutz MS silhouette.

I love my older Savage Mk.II BV but my favourite is my lowly Cooey Sureshot that was given to me by a friend's Dad. Cleaned it up and it shoots like a laser. So much fun to shoot too, I just love that little single shot bolt!

Beautiful rifle... horrible scope... totally ruins the sleek, balanced look.

Whatever...that was just one day at the range awhile ago...I don't even own that scope anymore...I have a lot of different scopes and ring combinations for this old .22, including an original Sako receiver peep sight (to fit the non-tapering .22 dovetail...different from the peep sights used on the their centerfire rifles but with same 100/200 yard quick change feature of the eyepiece.) Right now its wearing a big Swarovski 3-12x50. So I can see the bullet holes while I make them.

also...I'd like to see photos of these favorite .22s, not just a description. Words don't really do it.

Accurate (shoots right along with my very accurate Brno #2 and #5 sporters). No one has seen another one. Its all original factory,so is some sort of special order or a Sako prototype that never made it into full production or distribution. The two-piece stock of good European walnut is constructed the same as the fullstocks on Sako centerfires.

The favourite changes, depending on my moods. I love my Mossbergs, my CIL/Anschutz is number 2 as a gopher getter behind my Cooey 64B. Right now I've got some love for these Winchester model 77 rifles. Very sophisticated internals, walnut & steel, and a great trigger. Beautiful rifles.
