Favorite animal to eat or hunt

Quite an impressive array of tastes here! Cool to see so many are eating different small game critters.

Favorite hunt would be upland birds over pointing dogs. my current GSP is pretty piss poor at handling grouse, but she's hell on chukar so we spend our time doing that. Going to try and get after huns and sharps with her maybe next year.

On the table Elk, Mule and Whitetail deer are delicious even if rare in my house. Been a loooong time since I've eaten moose unfortunately. Favourite would be a tie between Ruffed Grouse and Chukar. Both are delicious. Love a nice fat mallard breast as well. Snowshoe Hare is pretty darn good as well. Honestly most anything can be very good when handled proper and cooked right

Wrong! Wild geese are not fat but farm geeses are or can be. Cooked properly Canada geese are quite a bit like beef but must be cooked medium rare.
Agree; not fat at all. Dry & lean, if not cooked right. Had 4 of the buggers fly over my head at 20 yrds today, while in full orange, walking along edge of field and toting the 12 Ga rifled slug gun! Taking the 10 ga with bucksot for deer tomorrow, then can swap if they come again! ;)

Table Fare:
1. Moose is at the top of the list as it is very consistent in flavour, no matter what region of the country the harvest takes place.
2. Pronghorn has an excellent flavour. Rather delicate but still distinct from any of the other game species. I hear guys complain but that is usually because the carcass has the "Manyberries Marinade" of too much heat, dust, and time in the back of a truck.
3. Elk and prairie/grain-fed whitetail are very similar to me. I won't pass up a mountain or norther bush buck but they taste very different from the farmland whitetails.

Hunting:
1. I love hunting Pronghorn. I always enjoyed spot and stalk hunting but doing it on flat ground or with limited topography is a blast.
2. Whitetails are always a fun hunt, whether it is the mountains, foothills, boreal, prairies, or desert.
3. Small game like grouse and rabbits has always been an enjoyable hunt. Great memories from my own childhood chasing ruffies and snowshoes to when my son was little and following along beside me on the hunts and watching him begin carrying his own rifle or shotgun.

Had some Hungarian partridge last night. Made into "chicken fingers" so my kids would eat it. It was very good. Used some moose backstrap tonight to make my version of a cheese steak sandwich. Again. Excellent. My wife especially liked the moose sandwich. I just cut it thin and fried it with onions and seasoned with blackened sask steak spice. Served them on Costco croissants.

Pheasant is my favorite wild game both to eat and pursue.
