Favorite brass ???

Not a great one to ask since I have been back reloading rifle only about 2 years but so far lapua which is excellent, then remington. Not impressed with federal or winchester. That is all I tried however since starting back.

I've abandonned Winchester, and never cared for Federal.

I find Starline to be excellent, as are Lapua and Norma. I use Prvi as well, and find it to be probably the best brass for the buck.

I prepare all brass the same regardless of manufacturer (primer pocket, OAL, etc.) and anneal after about every five shots. Neck size only for bolt guns. Do all that ,and use modest pressures, and there's no reason why almost any brass can't be used for 25 reloadings.

I find the Norma used by Nosler to be one of the best and one the most consistant, on the scale they vary less than Lapua and primer pocket are thight... JP.

Since i switched to those Nosler (Norma) cases, i got to close my groups by .1, those really give the most precise reloads i ever did, no wonder this 165 gr Accu 308 Nosler commercial ammo is so accurate... JP.

I have also switched to Nosler, which btw is made by Winchester, Remington, Federal and Norma, they only use Norma for the casings that the other three do not make. Nosler sorts them by weight, they are measured, sized, trimmed, and chamfered and sorted into lots. That is why they are so uniform.

I used Lapua for my Nemesis and they were the best until i reloaded with Nosler, in my rifle they just are the best, it do not mean they are the best in all rifles... JP.

I like Winchester brass in my Winchester rifles, just seems natural.
The brass I use is older and seems to take the throat expansion and crimping to receive bullets, without any issues so far.

Well this is crazy, but I have a .243 that shot Federal Premiums amazing. Then, I stuck with Federal (which is very soft) when I stared reloading and the .243 shoots one ragged hole at 100 yds, 5 rounds. I know it won't last as long...but having said that, I like Winchester as well. For one reason or another never cared for Remington (I have used it). I have never had the opportunity to purchase Nosler at the local shop but if it's just sorted Federal-well I could settle for this brass. I wish I had a new caliber to try Lapua-which more than likely is the best, so maybe I buy a new caliber!

Thanks for all your thoughts. I don't know if I'm any farther ahead now. Laugh2 I've used Federal Match brass for my 300 WinMag and my .308 I can't complain about it. I just bought a 30-06 so I need some new brass. My old supplier seems to be out of town now. I checked most of our contributing members last night but didn't find a lot. Where does everyone get their brass ???

Grouse River Outfitters, Cabelas, Wholesale Sports, all have 30-06 brass by most makers. Although any of the above sponsors that sell reloading supplies will have anything you need for 30-06

The last time I purchased Nosler, last week, the 325 WSM varied by weight .5 grains, max spread, the 270 Win was .4 grains max spread, most are within .2-.3 grains. Both the 325 and 270 are JUST barely under the trim to length specs found in reloading manuals. All of the brass necks are VERY well chamfered and nicely deburred as are flash holes. Primer pockets are aslo very very uniform. The 325 necks all measure .015 thick, everywhere, no need to ream or neck turn at all! I have not measured neck thickness on the 270 brass yet, but I already know the outcome.
