Favorite forgotten cartridges making a comeback

I've had quite a bit of fun wih the 11mm mauser. The looks i get at the range when that baby goes off is great. My favourite older cartridge is the 7mm mauser. Infact, thats my favourite all time rifle cartrigde.

I was out with a 1935 Peruvian Mauser in 7.65 x 53. Actually quite an apt cartridge, Water's figured it had more potential than the 7mm Mauser or 308 Winchester.Just not in the 1891 Mauser; need a 1898 at least before suping it up.
Not to diss your favorite cartridge, that'd be a dyck move. The US forces in Cuba would attest to the 7mm Mauser's effectiveness

.44 Special.
What a sweet cartridge that one is.

I just bought a Ruger Blackhawk Flattop Lipsey edition in 44 Special. For those that don't know, it's built on the same size frame the old 3 screw 357 Mags were and the current new model Vaqueros and not the larger frame that all new model Blackhawks are built on. She's a beauty. Just waiting for my brass and bullets to arrive in the mail so I can start reloading.

220 Swift, 6mm Remington [IMHO, superior to the 243 Win] 250 Savage, 257 Roberts, 6.5x54, 6.5x55, 7x61 S&H, 308 Norma Mag, 8x57, 348 Winchester.

Theses make up my list....some are hanging in there, but others are teetering on the brink of obsolescence. More's the pity. Dave.

Not really a cartridge, but I'm trying to get together a selection of RN bullets in 7mm, 30cal and 303 before they are all gone.

Whoa...you are OLD!! Can't believe you can still remember your kills from back then

My grandfather shot plenty moose with his old original winchester 92 in 44 wcf.
It was the only rifle he had so that's what he used.
Stalked or called the moose up real close and then placed his shot.
Did the job.
Grampa is long gone to the happy hunting round and the rifle rests in a glass case in the old family homestead.

7.62 x 39 AI .... where's the love?
Just kidding.

I'm a hardcore utility guy so it's .308 all the way.

However, I'm lovin' this thread. Sounds like countless conversations my father and I still have.

When I was a kid, my father and some of his friends were hardcore gun guys. I actually shot half the stuff listed in this thread and a few wildcats I've never heard of since ! Had no idea at the time how much they were experimenting and pushing things. Wouldn't change a minute of it.

I thought the nominal bullet diameter for the 7.62 kalashnikov was .311 ".
Just askin.
