Hi, just wondering if you have a favorite lever action rifle and calibre and why you prefer it to the others? I have always liked lever action rifles . I like how they look and feel. Do you prefer the big 45-70 marlin cause of the more powerful cartrige? Do you like the winchester 30-30 cause it is a clasic ? How about pistol calibre rifles like .357 rossi m92 or 44 cal marlin?

Myself, I started with a browning bl22 leveraction in .22 cal. I shot more gophers with that rifle than with anything else combined. I also ended up with a small .357 carbine lever action from rossi. I wanted a very small carbine .

Many of the classic lever action rifles were chambered in pistol calibres to accept the same ammo as their sidearm pistol. These varied from .45 colt to 44/40 . Made carrying ammo easier along with easier supply.

Also curious if anyone resently makes a lever action rifle in a 44/40 calibre?

I like Marlins. Calibre; depends. 44 mag is probably the funnest at the range/busting rocks. 30-30 for deer in the thick stuff. .375win or 45-70 for bigger things. If I could only have one it would probably be the 45-70.

Winchester's, I love the look of an 1886 and naturally no man should be without a 50-110, although I am without one. :(

Would love an 1893 Marlin, not sure how big they went but the bigger the merrier.

Used to have a post 64 30-30 but it just didn't do it for me.

When the mandatory firearms registration went through, a co-worker gave me his Grandfather's 1899 savage lever action. These have grown into by far my favorite and I won't be able to rest until I find an 1899C in 38-55.

Three yeasrs ago I could barely turn on my wife's computer, let alone even go to a search engine to find out info firearms.
Finally found the 24hr campfire and the savageshooters. MadDog took me under his wing (thanks Joe! ) as did violater22 (cheers Les!:D ) and I have been a forum nut ever since. Joe invited me to CGN too which has been a real gift in itself. So, in a way an old obsolete 303 savage rifle has gained me a pile of friends and some big changes to my arsenal too.:D

Thanks fellow nuts!

Savage 99 in either 250 and 300 Savage. :)

Ted

Gee wiz Ted, if that's your favorite I've got to ask, did you even give that rifle to your grandson?;) Just kidding buddy. The Savage 99 in 250-3000 has always been my favorite as well, something that I had wanted since I was a kid. Well I hope you're enjoying it, at some point in time I'll likely end up with another one:rolleyes: , LOL.

Actually, Marg has it. No doubt she will give it to her favourite grandson.

My ol 336 has nevr let me down for moose and deer.

I went to a BLR in .308 for added punch and range after 19 years, but with the new .30.30 round coming out it'll be back to the .30.30 for the deer for sure.
