Favorite Magazine?

I like the Newfoundland Outdoors magazine that accompanies the TV show. Fur Fish and Game is another. Both are common sense and not filled with writers who are being paid to endorse products.

I've stopped buying magazines all together; repetitive, slightly exaggerated, or the perfect scenario type information. I've learnt way more from reading the first hand experiences of thousands than I ever did from just one guy who needed to write something about the use of his sponsors product in the field.

I read books on hunting, mainly older ones on experiences with African and Asian game. The hunting magazines have become an advertising of products and gloating of writers who think they know it all. The only magazine I'll generally read is Fair Chase put out by B&C.

Grays Sporting Journal ( since issue 1 in 1976 ! ), Shooting Sportsman & Double Gun Journal.
From time to time, Waterfowl, Upland Journal, Pointing Dog & Sporting Classics.
Gave up on the big 3 (Outdoor Life, Field & Stream & Sports Afield) 20 + years ago.
Read Sporting Clays faithfully for about 5 years, but it became a little repetitive and more of an NSCA newsletter.

This is common with many contests. Not just Outdoors Canada, this is why

Yes I know about that but still, if you won't allow certain contestants because of their geographical location....don't do business there. It's just that this one was Canadian and the prize was in Quebec. How would you feel?. I paid Canadian dollars to a Canadian company .
I better check the rolluptherimtowin promotion...that's canadian too. Oh, wait...it's good in Quebec....where's the problem then?

I can't find Upland Journal in my area anymore... but I am a member of the Ruffed Grouse Society and do enjoy the RGS magazine. I already know 'how to' so am not terribly interested in that material. These days I enjoy sentimental or humorous bird hunting stories.
