I did a search on this but, surprisingly come up with nothing. So what is everyone's favorite ammo ? For hunting, plinking, target shooting ? Main thing I am wondering about is a reasonably priced target round. No serious competition, just paper punching for fun. And what about sub velocity ammo ?

believe it or not...wildcat for both mkI bbl and 10/22. best groups and no problems ever. I stocked up 10 yrs ago and have about 75 rnds left. I went through a brick of Federal gold recently, and didn't find anywhere near the consistency. looking for more wildcat, and hoping that it hasn't gone downhill over the last 10 yrs like everything else.

Really? I've found the Winchester stuff to be the most inconsistent, with quite a few squib loads. Wildcat is kinda dirty too, I prefer coated bullets. I like Federal, CCI, Reminton. Although the most accurate out of the Anshutz's at the club was this cheap Ruko ammo. But to be fair, the only squib load I experienced that didn't make it out of the barrel was a CCI Stinger. Kind of ironic, but supposedly a little inconsistent velocity wise.

Depends on the rifle. My Savage likes SKS,Henry's like CCI Blazers,Savage Cub(daughters) American Eagle 38 gr.,Marlin semi likes Federal Champion,Marlin bolt likes American Eagle 40 gr.Nothing shoots Remington good.I'm talking consistent firing with the shots going where you aim them to go

My Lakefield 64 b likes Federal gold medal, Remington cyclones, and CCI Stingers. Stingers, it likes the best but pricey.
Remington is good but dirty. Have to clean the receiver after a couple of hundred rounds. I use it (Cyclones) mainly for varmint hunting. CCI Stingers seem pretty clean and use it for hunting as well. But have less on hand usually because of the price. For plinking and target I use Federal Gold Medal.

I have to get me a bolt action rifle to plink with the other cheaper brands of ammo that is availble. Most of the other HP cheaper rounds don't cycle very well in my Lakefield 64b.

Federal Bulk Pak 525 count from Cambodian Tire. Used to be $ 20 per box, but with Obama Bin Laden's curse on USA Gun Owners... ammo prices are going through the roof.

About $ 30 per box yesterday.

I find this ammo works well in my SIG P226 .22 LR conversion kit and also my CZ452 Style (stainless). YMMV!

For rapid fire and just burning through ammo both my 10/22s love the Federal bulk packs. When i want to do more accuracy shooting and for small rodents i shoot the CCI Mini Mags.
Ammo has gone up and like stated before a brick of the federal bulk packs are up to over 30 bucks but Del sellins in vernon still has it for 23 bucks:)

My favourite .22 ammo was the old Imperial 40 Grain solid.Still have some but also use .22 Winchester,Remington and Federal 40 grain solids with good results.

i'm going to go with federal bulk as my normal fare, target and hunting. figure keep it consistent, and i've got too many .22s to catalogue different ammo for each. i do use different ammo as well, but usually only in a couple guns. sig mosquito only works flawlessly with stingers, and my falling block stevens doesn't have an ejector, only extractor, but with stingers the casings fly out while others stick.

100yd benchrest (Savage BTVSS) - SK+. It's about 97% reliable. In other words, expect about 3 fliers, maybe 1.5" off POA, per 100 shots. The other 97 are right on. Not ideal, but still good and way cheaper then Tenex, etc.

50 yd silhouette (Savage BV) - Fiocchi Standard. Cheap, good accuracy, no misfires.

Pistol plinking and general target practice (Ruger MKIII) - Winchester 333. Cheap, works well, clean. American Eagle also good, but a little costlier.

Pistol plinking and general target practice (Beretta T97) - Blazer or Dynapoint. Both work well and are cheap. The T97 is a little picky about ammo. Does not like Am Eagle.

"Heritage" rifles (old Mossbergs, Nylon 66) - They'll shoot almost anything, but I usually use Am Eagle SP if I have any.
