I’ve got 6 of them. 2 favorites are my FTR rifle with Barnard action and Robertson stock, and a Anschutz sporter which I like a lot and will keep forever for personal reasons.
Honestly; it it wasn’t for my target class requiring a .308 I wouldn’t have any except the Anschutz.
I briefly owned a Browning Highwall that was a great little rifle, but my favorites are Sportco and Musgrave .
I never have hunted with a 308 however, and the other two are single shot bolt action target rifles.
Cat
Model 70 Featherweight, T/C Encore. Probably a Blaser K95 if I ever get that kind of scratch. .
I had a Model Seven but I found that the 18.5” barrel was a bit too much in my face, and the barrel a bit whippy. Also the three hole mount left me with more limited options at the time. So I sold it and got the FWT. The 22” featherweight ameliorated those predilections while retaining a bit of the light and handy.
It would be fun to build a 20-24” MRA Maverick with a match grade barrel.
Agree about the sporting usage of AR-10s. Already restricted, mag restrictions. The useless ban should be struck down.
For an everday hunting 308, I have an old Sportsman 78 (M700) bedded into a Brown Precision topped with a 2-7 Redfield Revolution. Nice light combo. Handles well.
