favourite hunting bullet for 300 wm

200 gn Accubond, head and shoulders above all other bullets in the 300s. Next would be 200 A-frames or Parts and if you want to drop to 180s the same bullets in the same order. I have killed dozens of game animals, as has my son, with Nosler ABs from point blank to 500+ mtrs and they work every time. And they are consistently one of the most accurate bullets available in all calibers that I have tried.

200gr Swift A-Frames for heavy game. Good results with A-Frames in heavier calibers. These expand well and hold together. I've used the 130gr Hornady SP on bighorn sheep.

I almost ordered the long range accubonds 210 gr primarily for moose and sitting in large clear cuts for bear but I read they may not stabilize in a 1-10 twist. I just ordered some woodlieghs to try and after Xmas ill be trying quite a few others. I'm in no hurry I have to wait for the brass to come in on the next shipment.
Did you get good results with the sst for accuracy skidderman? That or the a max is what I'm planning on using for target shooting.

My go to bullet is the 168 TTSX. I am going to try something new next year. If I am successful in getting a grizzly draw I will try the 200 grain A-frame.

I always liked the 180 Partition myself but when I rebuilt mine into a LR rig I moved up to 210s. Need to try the LRABs to see what they do. I think that the 300 should be able to get the RPM into the stable range.

1:10 twist is typical for 300WM rifles and should stabilize the 210gr LR AB's - I would think(?). Woodleigh bullets are also a core-bond design like the Swift A-Frames. I've used the 310gr 35 caliber Woodleigh Weldcore bullet in my 358 Winchester on Moose with good results - these shoot clear through broadside.

400gr 45 caliber Swift A-Frame bullets from my .45-70 recovered from Elk at the impact speeds noted  -

I got very good accuracy with the SST but I personally don't like them for elk. They will do the job but not my preference.

I use more 180 Accubonds than anything in the .300
Win and the other .30 mags but if someone wants to
Use 200s or Partitions or A-Frames it wouldn't hurt my feelings any. There's more than one way to skin a cat,
But I've confidently shot water buffalo, a huge Scrub-bull and a grizzly with the little 180s and don't really see them bouncing off anything.

I've had to many bad experiences with Barnes tsx and ttsx to bother with them again in small bores. I'll buy some accubonds and I have a bunch of partitions to try. I'll let the rifle decide what it likes best.
Anyone ever use a 220 gr round nose in their 300 mag? I loved the Hornady 220 in 30/06. I was only getting about 2100 ft. Perfect mushroom every time no matter what I shot them into. Might be good for spring bear over bait

The 220gr RN Hornady bullet, not being a core-bond design, would likely fragment badly at close range on game at 300 WM impact speeds. I would stick with AB's, Swift A-Frames and Woodleigh Weldcores.

My choice has always been the Nosler 180 Partitions or 180 Accubonds... I have also used Hornady 180 Interbonds... I save the cup & core SP's for slower cartridges.
