45/70 is my favorite,a close second would be .308 and then .35 remington,but I huntin thick woods more often than not.
Shot deer, moose, elk and black bear with 243, 25-06, 270, 280 Rem, 30-06 and 338 Win Mag.
The 280 is a Remington 700 BDL SS with a Leupold VX-6 2-12 x 42 would be my go to gun today.
the 270, 30-06 and 338 have hone to new homes.

Yep! 7X57 for me also. My back up's my wife's rifle and it's a 303 British.

The .22LR has put the most meat in the fridge for me over the past 50+ yrs from quail to deer. The 45-70 was my black bear & moose choice back in the day for the hefty critters.
