Favourite hunting cartridge

What’s your favourite hunting cartridge ?
Doesnt necessarily have to be the best or latest and greatest, just your own personal favourite, the one you enjoy shooting and like to hunt with on the regular.

Mines 45 colt. Mainly because my favourite rifles are lever actions but also because it’s an old school (150 years old) cartridge , for some reason it’s a bunch of fun to shoot , it’s a bit of a rarity to see people hunting with it and lastly it forces me to actually hunt not just shoot animals from a long way away ;-)

I've been carrying a 25-06 but I'm gonna buy another 7 saum. Would you believe its easier to find than 6.5prc right now?

I'm pretty boring. 308 for most things. I'm more into rifles than calibers and if I have a platform I like I dont really care too much what it's chambered in within reason. I wouldn't use a 22-250 or 243 for moose though. This year I'm looking forward to trying the 338rcm I bought last fall. Will likely use it for deer and moose.

7x57 by a country mile. I am also partial to 6.5x55, 308, 30-06 and 8x57. No need to replace the classics, when the classics work so well.

I too have a lotta luck shooting a 7x57. If I don't get it done with a 50 cal muzzleloader, I reach for the Swedish mauser.

Here on the 'wet coast', specifically the island and primarily on Blacktail, probably a 7x57. In the B.C. interior say for Moose, a 308NM. And, should a chance at a the likes of a Buffalo hunt come about, a 9.3x62 or a 375H&H would get the call.

280 Ackley is what I mostly grab, as long as it’s light I’m all good.

I did pack my 6.5 RPM built on a Kimber Montana 84L last year and was really wanting to shoot something with the 156 Berger’s but never happened so maybe this year,

If Im Elk Hunting probably the 300 PRC.......

My next favourite of the week will be the 7 SAUM......or at least until tomorrow !

For me it has to be 30-06..... maybe when I get something with my 9.3x62 it will become my favorite but 30-06 is really hard to beat IMO!
