Favourite Waterfowl Shotgun

If you're set on a semi I'm looking at a Mossberg 935. If you don't mind a pump the Benelli supernova is a great choice.

After using an SX-3 for waterfowl the past six years or so, I was helping a friend to find a semi auto, and came across a deal I couldn't refuse. A local Canadian Tire had Browning firearms on for 30-60% off, and the had the Browning Maxus Wicked Wings Bronze edition on for $1299. The price was still a bit high for my friend, so I sold him my spare SX-3, and bought the Maxus for myself. I shot four rounds of skeet with it yesterday, and zero issues with Challenger 1 ounce target loads.

Sounds like lots of love for the SX 3.

I am just in the middle of swapping around a few in the collection... priorities have changed a bit and have some things took a turn in direction on me... funny how life seems to do that.

Excited for the snow to melt so I can get some shotgunning in.

Some people don't consider a Citori Lightning a duck gun, but this one doesn't know any better and I can't convince it otherwise....

I decided a long time ago if I wanted to shoot something longer than a 3" shell, I was going to step right up to the 10 gauge and really say "Howdy!" when I missed them.

Cory. If you do ever get the desire/cash for a magnum 10 beware the over unders. I have heard some of them have a habit of doubling when you only intend to discharge one barrel.

I have never heard myself of a similar complaint from a magnum 10 side by side.

Probably one reason why no one presently makes an O/U ten.

If you want to keep it around a grand I would look at the mossberg 935 or remington v3. I shoot a benelli super vinci that I got on sale for $1400 and I love it.

I've actually got an Ithaca Mag 10 already. Bought it with the intention of using it as a "long range, pass shooting" gun for geese. Sat with it a few times in Manitoba trying to get a Snow Goose...never saw one while holding it...

Swings nice though ;)

Great choice!
Virtually impossible to go wrong with any Ithaca shotgun.
Be well friend

That would be a great waterfowling piece! Always wanted to try a 10gauge auto. It was all I could do to walk away from a SP-10 I saw at the Local gun store.

Have an SP 10 with a custom 26" barrel. Took it to Sask. last year shot 3 boxes of 10 g through it in one day ,Gave the other 5 to the guide and switched back to my Benelli .That was a better beating than I got when I almost burned the old mans barn down next door. Could not get up out of the layout blind and set with that 11lb. monster and I am pretty good size, recoil even ported and backbored it smashed you cannot imagine what it would be like with the 32 barrel .Shooting out of a stand up blind where you can brace yourself maybe but did not work sitting up ,being spanked,:(

Browning Silver for me. I had gone through an A350 Extrema and SBE II before landing on the Silver and it's just a better fit for me, but the A400 is much more trim than the 350. I don't know if that matters at all as my Silver doesn't fit me any less well since I first swung it, but my biggest complaint with the Extrema was it's bulk.

I have not used mine in ages but too me the SP10 is a wonderful gun.
I used it mostly standing, never in a lay down blind, but I have used it sitting up right. I put a very thin pachmayr pad on it so I could shorten the LOP from stock. Broad shoulders short arms I guess. ;)

I never worried about recoil but in a lay down it might be different.
I tried it once against the Browning Gold light 10 gauge. I was surprised the Browning which had the 28" barrel felt lighter and seemed to have even less felt recoil. Still not sure how that works but I never regretted my SP10. :)

For many years my go to was an old Auto 5 Magnum, love it and it's never let me down but recently started more late season boat hunting so wanted something in synthetic that I can not worry about the wood stock and found a Beretta A300 and use that.
So for jump shooting and swamp walking still Auto 5 in the boat in wet crappy weather Beretta A300.

Remington 3 inch model 58. Screw choked. It fits me and I shoot it better than any shotgun I have ever owned. But that is not to say I am a great shot.
