Went to the gun club with the above weapon to see how the old girl would do with Hunting ammo. I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a box of Federal Powershok, 150 gr. This is likely the bullet size I will use when I go hunting in Alberta for mule deer, with a buddy out there in a couple of years. I haven't decided yet to take this rifle or a Longbranch No.4, MKI that I have that has been scoped, sporterized and shortened(bubba'd).
The circled grouping in the photo is the grouping with the Federal ammo. The hits at the top and bottom of target was 1943 DIZ military ball ammo. Not sure if they were so off target because I was warming up or if it was the ammo. The old military stuff usually shoots good out of my Longbranch. Oh well. The powershock grouped well. Wish I hit the bulls eye though. These were standing shots out to 100 metres. I guess it would have been good enough to bring home the venison if the deer is going to be roughly that distance away. I do need more practice.
