Federal gun grab?

"If all the firearms owners, enthusiasts and businesses join together we can get #### done. We just have to all stand up. They can't ignore all of us."

the scary part is they can, and the tactical firearms community is but a fraction of the gun community on the whole, I doubt the fudd-gunners care if the Swiss/CZ/AR etc. goes the way of the dinosaur

if all gun owners could get stood up, yes we would be a voice, and one not to be ignored. However history has proven to us time and again that we lack in the unification department... That is citizenship wide, not just firearms owners... just look at the polling percentages of last election...

Well, the elite try to take our guns away, its happening not just in Canada, look at what the US Govt is doing their best to confiscate firearms, what the global elite trying to do is to create a world where the mass must obey to the few. They will success if so-called free western country like Canada or the US forbid citizen to have firearms. Honestly, i dont wanna use a hunting rifle to fight for my freedom, i rather have something else. GOVT will like as much power as possible, banning certain firearms will give them more power indeed. IF EVERY CANADIAN CAN REALIZE OWNING A FIREARMS ISN'T JUST FOR HUNTING OR SELF-DEFENSE(stupid law doesnt even allow using firearms for self-defense..) ITS BIGGEST PURPOSE IS TO OVER-THROW GOVERNMENT IF THEY FORGET THEIR ROLE WHICH IS THE SERVE THE PEOPLE. then all of us should against any types of confiscation. I REPEAT, I DO NOT WANT TO USE A SINGLE-SHOT HUNTING RIFLE IN THE EVENTS LIKE THAT, PERIOD!!

I sent this letter to my MP and Stephen Harper. I composed it with some of your quotes and ideas, so feel free to use.

Dear MP,

This morning a news alert at 10 AM February 27th came across my desk. There is confirmation that all the Swiss Arms rifles, both non-restricted and restricted have been re-classified as Prohibited by the RCMP. The FRTs have all been changed this morning.

If anything, the CPC should pay very close attention to this. This can be a very negative thing for us. If this is all true, and now all non-restricted Swiss Arms rifles are now prohibited, there will be over a thousand prohibited “baby killing machines” out there. And without the Long Gun Registry, there is no way to find them. The CPC will have egg on their face for eliminating the LGR and taking away "valuable tools" police have been crying about to keep prohibited firearms out of public hands. When the press gets a hold of this, headlines will read:

"Conservatives allow a thousand assault rifles to disappear"

The predominantly liberal media will have a field day with this. The Conservatives who always claim to be "tough on crime" will look like a bunch of hypocrites.

The thought of Liberals like Justin running our country is very scary. What is even scarier is the way the CPC has become a Trojan Horse for Liberal values when it comes to gun control. It’s about time the party stood up for democracy and citizens’ rights. If this is something you are no longer capable of, due to your Liberal beliefs, then there is little value in voting for or donating to your party.

Let’s all just vote for Justin, and send our guns in now, as it will save us all a lot of time.

My future donations earmarked for the Conservative Party of Canada will now being re-routed to a Class Action Lawsuit for Swiss Arms Reclassification Loss and a Reclassification Challenge, or to the National Firearms Association and important court battles that endeavor to protect the rights of Canadian Citizens.

The RCMP does not run this country, WE do, as in Canadian Citizens, through our ELECTED officials. At least that’s how it’s done in non-police states.

I will re-route my donations to CPC after I hear some very strong language from our leadership claiming the RCMP’s actions will be investigated todays actions and for High River gun grab.

You gotta realize that our PM is to serve the rich and elite, not us right?

Too many egos involved. The only reason we can't have one big org is because egos make people want to be the face of things and be in charge, and do it their way. This is what makes Canadians different than Americans. Americans do something for the good of everyone, however Canadians want everyone to know they are the person responsible for doing something, and nothing ever gets done.

I support our orgs, but I support a one big org that gets things done much more.

divide and conquer

The political implications are horrendous! As gun owners we have no friends in political circles, we not organised effectively enough to have a huge effect on any election but that could change! If the backlash of this is a loss of votes for the conservatives I really fear for our future.

1 in how many of canadian owns firearms compare to our neighbour? if US govt is pushing gun bill and if the elites are succeeding, then North-america will become one single fascist state. AM i worry too much or it will come true in the near future?

The events the RCMP has done is causing me to go down to Alberta and discuss these new problems and the more that are coming....also will do an ammo run while there might as well reserve is running low

dont think running away is the best tactic here....

I contacted my MP, a liberal sadly but i voiced my opinion. Also emailed CSSA and asked what they're going to do! Emailed Gallant below is what i wrote.

Dear Cheryl Gallant, I am a legal gun owner who has supported you in the past but what your government is doing to legal gun owners is disgusting. The attack on legal gun owners has to stop. Those Swiss arm rifles have been legal for last 13 years and the owners who dished out over 3 grand to own one, is not the issue.

Why keep attacking us? Are we the ones doing drive by and armed robberies? Are we scaring you because we have rifles? So why is the government hell bend of prohibition of firearms and reclassification of private property and to make it worse no money for our property!

As a law abiding gun owner and federal law enforcement officer, I'm out raged by this. This current attempt doesn't stop illegal guns coming over border or anything. This is a blatant attack on our firearm rights. I will not be voting for the conservative party if this is how we are viewed. I ask you to reverse this and take power away from RCMP.

This happened before in history and it was the German government under Hitler who did same thing. Embrace firearm rights and allow us to have self defense rights. Go after illegal guns and make punishment harsh for illegal guns or used in commission of robbery.

I hope to see change from this party as I know the views of what liberals and NDP will do to me. Again stop making legal gun owners criminal over night for nothing.

Sincerely,

Keep up the pressure, i wish NRA was in Canada!

this is call ''new world order''

I'm no expert on this, but it seems that we have not accomplished enough. (Although victories like abolishing the non-res registry is one that comes to mind.)
Nevertheless, I don't think importation of the NRA is the answer. However, I agree that Canadian org's could learn a thing or two from them. They should certainly be consulted.

BTW, the NRA's lobbying activities are inexorably linked to the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. There is no such legal/constitutional framework here in Canada. (And please, I have no interest in debating the extremely tenuous, and already dead, BNAct argument.)

2nd Amendment is what keeps a country free from the 1%

It is really very simply. The Lab examines a firearm and applies existing criteria to it, for example: Caliber, action, barrel length, overall length, parentage etc. This then determines the class, conduct a re-examination and change one of your findings could result in a change of classification. The lab passes an "expert" opinion they don't change the law.

i bet ar and handgun are after, then all we left is 5rd hunting bolt action rifle, then probably no guns at all. you see they want to ban all the semi-auto first cuz semi-auto poses real problem to the 1% so they wanna slowly take away our ability to fight back, in the end, what can we really do with a hunting rifle tactically speaking, nothing. i think we all understand the result if you bring a hunting rifle to a gun fight.

Placing tin foil hat firmly on my head.

Sometimes I think the push to get the firearms out of peoples hands is because those in power fear civil unrest like what is going on in the Ukraine right now.
Obviously there will be many here that say this is Canada and is impossible. Globally there is a wind of change blowing and attitudes are shifting. Western governments are exerting their powers creating soft oppression. Not obviously, but with a pin prick there and a pin prick here. Little by little they add more tax, a new law or prohib another firearm. The effects of this are that the softly oppressed slowly get angry like a kettle boiling but they don't know why. You can witness the pot boiling in acts such as road rage, hockey parent fights and by reading forums such as this one. I guess the point of my rant is no more pin pricks we as firearm owners have been pricked on enough.

+1

its 1% vs 99%, always have always will

I understand why they would prohibit short barreled weapons for concealing reasons, but automatics? Let me get this straight - "That's too many bullets, too fast. You could do a lot of damage with that if you decide to blow a circuit one day and go postal." One guy with a 30-round mag on full auto has the potential to go nuts = dangerous, but 5 or 6 guys with legal semi-auto's and the potential to go nuts = ok? I'm sure you can argue that for the latter to happen, you would need 5 or 6 people with the same nutjob intentions as opposed to one. Still the logic doesn't sit with me.

Also, who's to say someone couldn't buy a deactivated auto and make it fully operational again? It's just steel. Given access to the right machines, tools, and technical knowledge, any firearm can be made operational again.

its not about crime control, but freedom control, tho lot of people like to exchange freedom for safety, watch the movie robocop recently?

Mr. Wolverine you couldnt have said it any better! We need to unite as one voice and fight back against the beurocrats and their obvious agenda to disarm law abiding citizens! The Swiss Arms reclassification has truly exposed the real agenda. Time to fight back and make our voices loud and clear. Enough is enough!

we're missing the big picture here, it aint about banning one gun, its about disarm the people.

Do it right, they'll never know you were there in the first place. I'll always have my precision bolt action, combat accurate well past 1200m. Right now its the mentally insane going nuts with a firearm every now and again. If they keep up this foolishness with reclassing firearms, see what lengths some will go to about something they are passionate about....

It is pretty clear that if the NDP and the Liberals join up for the election ( which has been suggested by the mass media) we could see a worsening of the our rights in the very near future.

You see, this confuses me too.

First, I agree that it is about control. What you are saying is it is about control, gun control = control, period.

But, an entirely new twist on things, something i do not feel i have ever mentioned, is that KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.

If a government wants ton truly control their people they need merely do 3 things

1) weaken the education system so it is ineffective or only teaches non critical thought
2) censor and control the INTERNET
3) censor and control the MAINSTREAM MEDIA

they do not need gun control at all........ utterly stupid brainwashed people with guns would be their pawns plain and simple.

That being said if they do NOT control knowledge people have the ability to LEARN how to make improvised explosive devices such as pipe bombs or rudimentary directed explosives akin to claymores........ an enclosed concrete basement with a few litters of propane is enough to collapse a multi story building. Chemical weapons- almost child's play- hard to not make by mistake when cleaning your home or doing laundry.......don't mix X with Y or you have yourself some heavier than air WW1 trench gases. Biological weapons- first year university students are taught about the basics of drug resistance, dna and rna mutations being passed from bacteria to bacteria through transposons etc, how to grow bacterial cultures in nutrient agar with sheeps blood and to test the effectiveness of anti biotics on said bacteria. It would be nothing to teach a common bacteria to become resistant to any known anti biotic on purpose- heck most of us do this any time we dont finish our medications and permit X pathogen to survive long enough to adapt and then breed. Common pathogens from 100 years ago, treatable by modern antibiotics, could be made into super bugs (not that they are not already) and spread on purpose using human vectors killing untold numbers (rather than trying to not spread a germ, fathom if you will purposly trying to- airports etc)...... again- IF a person had the desire and basic microbiology training. Guns, by contrast, are exceptionally easy to MAKE...... but thing is I can not fathom an intelligent person ever wanting to use a gun for offensive violent reasons unless they were suicidal and wanted to be famous (media).... smart people could do many bad things in many more effective ways with the chance of not being caught at all. Federal building bombings, homemade nerve (Sarin) gas attacks by the doom's day cult........ and so forth.

In SHORT I think knowledge is power, it could be used as a weapon by a person if that was their intent. You can not ban knowledge in a FREE society, you can only ban things......... things that smart people can produce, purchase on the black market, or bypass with something far more insidious (explosives, chemical, biological weapons). In the end it always comes down to violence, the intent of violent people....... not "things".

Our government successfully done all 3, at least 1 and 3, internet poses a big threat to them, taken away the gun is like a bonus insurance or they afraid the sheep will woke up one day. by taken away the gun the sheep will still be sheep......
