The wait is over, they are finally taking orders!

Right now the firm fixed price is only $4995.00

Let's hope they're not prohibited?

There have been semi FG-42s in Canada for years.

You say that like they're readily available sitting on your local gunshop's rack. I've looked for years and never found one for sale.

The only ones I've seen here are horrible reproductions that more often than not are missing key features; Namely the buttstock spring buffer.

You think these SMG versions will be any more available? Not likely.

The ones that are already here are the SSD guns that sold for $10K.

A $5K US-made copy would be cheaper after import, but you would risk having it seized by the RCMP lab when you send it to get classified.

It's hell of a lot cheaper than the 10k SSD version, which happens to be a joke of company mind you.

All things considered, yes, I think these will be much easier to obtain should you wish to do so.

OK,
US State Dept. must 1st approve export and then RCMP Lab and then another 2 years...result - hopefully positive.
Perhaps we could get IRUNGUNS in on this and I will take the .308 version.
Crossed fingers.

Are these 7.62x51? I gotta say I find them quite ###y! HAHA. I love the side magazine as those so different. Do they come belt fed?

I believe these shoot 8mm Mauser rounds, like the original FG42s. Surplus ammo and hand loads are a no go though, so it's not going to be a cheap rifle to shoot. No belt fed version, I do believe the rifle is capable of being modified into a belt fed system but I'm sure that'll cost way more than it's worth.

This is an amazing weapon system, one you have to handle for yourself to see. If you've ever shot a Mauser98 you'd know it kicks like a mule and muzzle jumps a rabbit, but this rifle seems to tame that round like it's a 223.

8mm with a zf4 please. And I think it's time for a Mac&Cheese and Ichiban diet... If they become available in Canada.

Also, have any of you read of the 'California' model. You have to release the magazine with a pin? Well that pretty easy to circumvent. Duct tape and a thumb tack, instead of a lever, you have a button.

Strange cause I remember for a fact they were talking about not using the 8mm Turkish surplus with the rifle ... strange.
You should be reluctant to use 8mm Turk surplus in ANY gun. Some batches were very bad news.

Why would 8mm surplus and handloads be a no go? I would assume the handloads part in that most manufacturers won't warranty if shooting handloads; no biggie to me if that's why but I don't get the surplus part at all. No steel case maybe?

My guess would be because surplus 8mm has gone the way of surplus 7.62x51, .30-06, .303, etc. Hell even factory ammo is nearly impossible to find. Went to Cabelas the other day and out of all the ammunition they had on the shelves (and I'm talking THOUSANDS of boxes) there were exactly TWO boxes of 8mm. Given the amount of Mausers and such in existence I expected better for this great cartridge.
