field dressing knife

I had a classic Buck 110 folder that I used for years and a Marttini skinner for removing the hide. That buck took and held an edge like nobody's business but I recently got a Mora that I had planned to use this year had we been successful

I use a Buck Vanguard with the rubber handle primarily and my dad's old Buck 110 when needed. I also picked up a couple of Canadian Tires Huntshield Whitetail Hunter on sale as backup and to see how they'd work. They've remained sharp, but haven't really abused them.
I used the rubber handled Vanguards for many years (and still have and carry in my daypack, until the Outdoor Edge Swingblade came along. Two of these do the bulk of my field dressing work now.
One is used solely to touch hide and hair, while the other is used for skinning. If I cannot proper clean these blades in the field, another knife (Vanguard) is used for cutting meat for breaking down the quarters or deboning, removing backstraps and tenderloins.
This mitigates transfer of anything that can taint your meat and reduce the quality of your table fare.
