And boy was it a hell of an ordeal to get through.

I finally got my RPAL in the mail about a month ago. But I've been dreaming and debating about my first pistol purchase since about October.

At first I wanted the Canammo norc deal. But when that was all sold out the idea of buying a .45 first thing kind of faded away.

I moved on to wanting a Hi-Power after doing a lot of reading, and I still want one pretty badly. Someday I'll have one, and it might even be an Inglis MK1*. *proud Canadian* But don't have the budget.

Started thinking about other 9mm's. Decided I wanted one to learn with and for cost of ammo while learning. Flipped back and forth between a Norc NP29, a Zastava 9mm Tok, Looking at a couple of FEG P9M's that found their way on the EE, and a SAM 9mm 1911. then I finally decided to pull the trigger on an np29 that somebody had polished up, but it sold earlier in the day by the time I got there. Same thing with an FEG the next day. So I go to the local store to pick up the NP29 that I had been going in to fondle twice a week for the past month,, and it had been sold a few days before.

Apparently yesterday was "buy a 9mm so Advoc can't have one" day.

Well I went to another local shop and found that they had 2 Girsan Yavuz 16's for sale. One was new, one was on consignment from a customer of theirs who originally bought it from them. The used one looked brand new to me. Rifling looked great, fit and finish was perfect. Like maybe he threw a box or two through it and decided it wasn't for him. It came with the case, 2 10rd factory mags (no pins), cleaning kit. and a box of 124gr and a mostly full box of 147gr. For $430.

I didnt' think I wanted a Beretta type pistol. But I held it.. felt good. Sights are nice. White dots instead of invisible military sights. I like the decocking lever, even though I wasn't really looking for a DA. The moulded grip was a nice touch, something that the Beretta doesn't have. And as far as aesthetics go, it was far above and beyond the Norc I was thinking of getting.

So I told him I'd watch some youtube vids and sleep on it.

Well now it's mine. And as soon as the transfer is all done, I'll take some pics for you folks. *giddy*

I think you are going to like that gun, the double action trigger is a lot of fun...the long haul as the hammer comes back then BANG and the trigger goes into single action, you find where it is and it is so much easier the next round.
I have a Beretta and had it out yesterday, I start with the safety on..insert magazine, rack the slide, find the target, flip the safety off and pull the trigger. The design of the safety allows you to have a round in the chamber with no chance of an accidental discharge and the double action would provide quick shooting from a holster if such things were allowed at my range (they are allowed if "Qualified" at extra cost and effort).

Congrats!! Warning this is only the start many more will come.

Yes it is like a gateway to a lot more purchases lol!
Great choices on the Girsan, i bought an M9 a few months ago and it is becoming one of my favorite pistols. There is a bit of a learning curve with it as it is a DA/SA but
you will enjoy, if you want to improve the trigger feel try to order the "D" hammer spring from Brownells. Big improvement! Best part is that parts are plentiful, unlike some guns out there.

Yeah, the hole in my wallet becoming a problem isn't a new thing. I also play guitar, thus I'm a gear head. Also play paintball, which translates into a lot of purchases. I did however sell one of my several guitars, and one of my numerous paintball markers to fund this purchase,... aaaaaaaand bills, which is why I don't have a couple of buckets full of 9x19 yet.

You could produce your own buckets by starting to reload.... but watch out! More cool gear to shop for!

Congratulation on your purchase. Da/Sa pistols are my favorite after 1911's.

I just got off the phone. Transfer complete and ATT's issued. Going to go pick it up in an hour or so. I'll take pics after work :)

Hell I'm buzzing with excitement, I'll shoot a video.

I have 2500 or so rounds threw my Stainless Girsan and not one issue, you have bought yourself probably the best 9mm for the money. Have fun with it.

Well we have the equipment "in the family". This is the first gun I ever BOUGHT, but I own 3 others that were hand-me-downs that my grandpa bought in the 60s. We have dies and sizers and all that for every calibre we shoot as a family, but they're single presses, not meant for buckets of ammo. Dad and gramps would often admonish me to bring 2 bullets with me when we went hunting in case I lost one. That's the kind of shooters they are. :p
