And boy was it a hell of an ordeal to get through.
I finally got my RPAL in the mail about a month ago. But I've been dreaming and debating about my first pistol purchase since about October.
At first I wanted the Canammo norc deal. But when that was all sold out the idea of buying a .45 first thing kind of faded away.
I moved on to wanting a Hi-Power after doing a lot of reading, and I still want one pretty badly. Someday I'll have one, and it might even be an Inglis MK1*. *proud Canadian* But don't have the budget.
Started thinking about other 9mm's. Decided I wanted one to learn with and for cost of ammo while learning. Flipped back and forth between a Norc NP29, a Zastava 9mm Tok, Looking at a couple of FEG P9M's that found their way on the EE, and a SAM 9mm 1911. then I finally decided to pull the trigger on an np29 that somebody had polished up, but it sold earlier in the day by the time I got there. Same thing with an FEG the next day. So I go to the local store to pick up the NP29 that I had been going in to fondle twice a week for the past month,, and it had been sold a few days before.
Apparently yesterday was "buy a 9mm so Advoc can't have one" day.
Well I went to another local shop and found that they had 2 Girsan Yavuz 16's for sale. One was new, one was on consignment from a customer of theirs who originally bought it from them. The used one looked brand new to me. Rifling looked great, fit and finish was perfect. Like maybe he threw a box or two through it and decided it wasn't for him. It came with the case, 2 10rd factory mags (no pins), cleaning kit. and a box of 124gr and a mostly full box of 147gr. For $430.
I didnt' think I wanted a Beretta type pistol. But I held it.. felt good. Sights are nice. White dots instead of invisible military sights. I like the decocking lever, even though I wasn't really looking for a DA. The moulded grip was a nice touch, something that the Beretta doesn't have. And as far as aesthetics go, it was far above and beyond the Norc I was thinking of getting.
So I told him I'd watch some youtube vids and sleep on it.
Well now it's mine. And as soon as the transfer is all done, I'll take some pics for you folks. *giddy*
