is the 590 lighter then the 590A1? I love my 590A1 but it sure is heavy!
IIThink so on account on the thinner walled barrel

Well, haven't made up my mind yet. Now contemplating the Mossberg 930 JM or the 930 spx-8shot if going semi way.
Maaaaayybe a M2, if I come up with few extra $$ from somewhere, but any feed back from anyone who's shot both and can comment fairly ?
in IPSC, is 8 rnds or more start permitted in Std. division ? or only in std. manual ?
and is better with reg. stock or pistol grip ? and please give reasoning behind your opinion, so I understand better.
its a semi auto so your stuck with 5 rounds of the type the shotgun is made for, so on any of the 3" guns listed above the best your going to do is 6 in the tube, 1 on the lifter and one in chamber for 8 rounds.
if your really looking for a gaming gun in caanda get the versamax 3.5" semiauto...... it is unbelieveable how much you can get in there.

930JM, Haven't seen one in Canada.
The majority of the Mossberg semi owners I know have sold them and bought benellis
M2 is nice. The Vinci is gaining popularity in the US.
If you want the most capacity, the Super Black Eagle2 or the Super Vinci would be the way to go.
Versamax, I think there is a sale at Basspro right now.
Its a decent gun but needs a bit of adjusting to make it really user friendly for IPSC shotgun or 3 gun.
Less felt recoil than an M2, but its a heavier gun.
The new Beretta 1301 seems like a great gun out of the box, with many of the mods people usually do to their guns, already done from the factory.
Not sure if/when those will show up in Canada.
I know the Benelli platforms well and would spend the extra money to get one over the others mentioned.
You get what you pay for.
Used ones come up for sale once and a while, but usually go quickly.
If you recall your RO course, start capacity for both standard and standard manual is max of 9.
In Standard we're limited by what the semi will legally hold in Canada vs what IPSC allows.
Pistol grip or not, is a personal preference.
I feel the standard field stock is more natural and easier to point than a pistol grip, but that's me.
Also the pistol grip hinders me when I reload, so its not something I would use.
As with any gear selection, there is no right or wrong, just what suits you best and what you can be proficient with.

these both are either 3+1 or 4+1, so I guess nordic extension can be available to get 5+1 ? or are those ext.'s only for pump models ?
more $ to spend...no so bad if buying pump, but semi hurt the pocket enough.
The versamax has a port right ? so have to be in open div. ?
not shooting any 3gun or ipsc shotgun in near future.
'Begs the question.... "Why the f#@% not...?
