Yup. Looks like the coating caused it to jam in the chamber and the rim of the case was torn trying to pull it out of the chamber.

Just out of curiosity. What head spacing are you running it with?

I have run into problems with stuck and broken cases in the conversion to the swede 8mm on the 1919A4s. I compared the chamber "slop" to a used military barrel and found the military to be quite loose comparatively. I basically ran lapping compound on an empty case to loosen it up, and once done the stuck case problems were eliminated. The gun was still very accurate despite a sloppy chamber.

Anyone else having success running steel cased ammo in their 1919a4? I have several cases of the stuff & it's relegated to my M14 now...

YES! :) Works pretty good in mine. Mine is a TNW 7.62x51 variant.

I've run about 1000 rounds through it, and only ONE jam/stoppage. The rim of one got stuck in the bolt, and wouldn't slide down far enough to load into the chamber. So the gun got stuck locked 'open'. I eneded up having to use a screwdriver to pound the round down through the bottom of the bolt (out the bottom of the gun). Slot screwdriver on case head, and just 'hammered' it down with my other hand. I'm guessing the rim was too thick (out of spec), as every other round of the PRC 7.62 slides down the bolt easily. Ran like a top before and after that incident. No damage to the gun.

I run it a +3 clicks and seems to run pretty smooth. Fired cases look fine.

I have 6 cases of the stuff, so plan on using it for a while. :)

be careful with the MFS steel jacket .308 i blew out the T-slot on a 308 bolt after 500 rounds of that stuff and I think it may have been due to the laquer coating in the barrel building up or it could just have been coincidence and the t-slot was weak or had a pre-existing crack.

Just thought I'd post this for anyone who's running a 1919a4 in any caliber. It's a really good site to show all the different stops for the different calibers wether its 30-06, 308 or 8mm.

I'm a bit late catching up here... But Jay, i agree you have to show up at the milsurp shoots :) i think the summer one was moved one week later. And there's the september 14 fall shoot... Oh yeah.

Update, pretty proud to say that I won the mad minute shoot at the Fall Milsurp Shoot at EOSC with 76 hits on target & a score of 499!

Afterwards, I let a couple folks shoot it & the smiles said it all!

Cheers
