On the bright side, at least no one PM's me anymore.

I would worry more about a cracked lower receiver in the area of the pivot.
Really ?
First NIB AR180B ships from Wolverine , fired aprox 250 rnds stops working , cracked receiver
Sent back & Wolverine sends second NIB AR180B, fired aprox 350 rnds stops working,
cracked receiver
Sent back & Wolverine sends third NIB AR180B, fired aprox 500 rnds . Check receiver , no sign of crack gun still functions . Put gun away & haven't shot it in 5 yrs
I have an AR-180, I was under the impression it was 'Prohibited'/Safe Queen now. This B.S. really annoys me AND everyone else. My 2nd wife used to shoot it in competition with the 2 -40 rd. and 2 -15r rd. mags it came with. I even got a Sterling 180 scope mount for it and modified a bunch of AR-15/16 mags. so all would shoot in both, good old days !
So CAN it be taken to range or NOT ? I'll block a magazine to 5.Thanks, Drew

You can drop an originally AR180 upper receiver on an unmodified AR180B lower.

Who said the aluminum lower was supposed to come out in 2011?
Sorry it took me awhile to find the thread I saw it in. Just something that someone had posted on AR15.com. I have not substantiated it though.

Added: nothing on the Armalite website as it is no longer in production. What would you think of a AR180 upper that would mate to a standard AR15 lower? Prohib?
