Have to give my 550 back soon so I went with a Hornady LnL AP and all the toys to set it up for 9mm, 44 mag, 45 acp, 223, 308, and 7.62x39. A few non-mission critical things are still on backorder (extra LnL bushings, etc.) Decided to skip the case feeder for now as I can pull off 600 an hour on the 550 so I expect a bit better on an autoindexing press which is fast enough for me.

I'll post pics once all the boxes show up :dancingbanana:

Cost of press and of caliber conversions. For the hornady a plate is about 40 bucks, bushings another 15, and changes in minutes. For the Dillon the plates are more, the toolhead is more than bushings, and even if you get extra toolheads it's slow as hell to change over the powder measure. I would have wanted deluxe changeover sets... in 6 calibers... at 130 or so a piece, plus 50 dollar shellplates.

The way I priced it the Dillon would have been almost double the cost of the Hornady, not accounting for the free bullets.

I've been waiting over a month. I've received all my bits and pieces from various sources but no press or case feeder yet. The LNL demand outstrips supply. With the free bullets its a terrific deal.

Sinclair just got some in some time in the last week, might want to grab one. Most of the backorder lines are a mile deep.

OK since RR set me up with Sinclair I can second they are the best source for parts for the AP. I already sent my order in so selfishly I can say try it.

I have tried everywhere else I believe to this point. I just hope the parts get here.

So the website lied to me. They had 3 of the 9 items I ordered when the confirmation came in. 3 I didn't really need.:(

Thanks for the link anyway Rommel, we gotta try everything.

I was leaning toward the Dillon 650, I think now however the LNL looks pretty good due to reasons above, how is Sinclair about shipping to Canada? Any hidden costs? Any reviews from someone who actually has one? How is Hornady about customer service to Canada?

Ive got a lnl AP and and Hornadys customer service to Canada is awesome less than a wk to Sk for couple things, lil slow getting bullets on Get Loaded Rebate but bullets are gettin scarce these days.

Cabelas Us was good to me and quick on delivery on the AP press.

I promised I wouldn't whine anymore about getting accesories on an earlier thread so I won't.

I am still waiting!

Dillon you can get almost everything within days. Not really a fair comparison tho because Hornady intentionally let stock get down really low so they could try and reduce any compatibility problems with having 2 versions of the press and shellplates in the retail stream.

Can you elaborate on this. Why would Hornady want to make something better and not get it out there to make the sales?

It seems like they will machine the older shellplates to work in the new one. I wonder how long that would take!

They would have reduced stock on the old stuff so that, when the new stuff (ezject) came out, there would be less overlap - because ezject is not compatible with the old shellplates. And because once ezject was announced, who would order an old-style shellplate knowing that they would not work with an ezject system?

Combine this with the general obama/hording frenzy, and lots of stuff is hard to get at the moment.

This is old news posted on Hornady site April 10 but I thought folks who are waiting for stuff, like me, might be interested:

**Message from Steve Hornady dated April 10, 2009** The shooting sports industry as a whole is currently experiencing record sales. Here at Hornady Manufacturing we are breaking our own production records in an attempt to keep up with customer demand. We have added extra shifts, machinery and we are also in the process of expanding our manufacturing plant. We will continue to produce as much product as we can while still retaining the high quality control you’ve come to expect from us.

With the demand for our products being as high as it currently is, we are forced to make some temporary changes. Until further notice we are only able to ship ammunition, bullets, cases and major reloading tools to our wholesalers and retailers. This means that we are not able to accept consumer orders for those products via telephone or our website. We will take telephone/web orders for reloading spare parts, press accessories and specialty dies. For a list of available products you can purchase on our website please Click Here. For ammunition, bullets etc., your favorite retailers and sporting goods chains have large orders placed with us so you will receive your product faster by purchasing through them than you would by ordering factory direct.

We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may cause anyone and as soon as this situation eases we will return to accepting retail orders.
