I got my first 7mm-08 about 30 years ago or so (788 carbine), ammo was a lot thinner on the ground then. Not a problem, set of dies, some 308 brass, and away we go. Eventually I had enough actual 7mm-08 brass that it didn't matter. As an after thought, a box of original Remington ammo in this caliber, back when they used the Hornady 139 gr bullet because they didn't have an appropriate one of their own, gave me the single smallest group I've ever had with that rifle. Astonishing for factory ammo, and made me a 788 fan from then on.
As to the WSS issue above, you can brand the clerk for not knowing about 338 Win Mag (although, going by your writing, are you sure he understood you? No slight intended, sometimes accents are tough to get through), but the handgun locking business IS THE LAW. You want to be mad, be mad at the Liberals. - dan
