Finds in the bush

Found a dead guy. Didn't find him in the bush but in the water while duck hunting, we thought it was a manequin at first, the guys skin was grey and his hair ears and nose were all worn off, he was fishing and fell out of his boat, He was in the water for about 2 months....

Deer and moose sheds, a complete moose skeleton, carved wooden spoon, native arrowhead (in Quetico), steaming bear poop, and topless chicks (did a stint riding along on Algonquin campsite checks with a CO one summer).

My dad found an old collapsed trappers cabin, and all that was standing was a fairly rusted iron bed frame . He actually paddled it out in a canoe, and had it restored/repainted a few years later. It's in his guest room.

I once found an old grave yard. Was wayyyyy out in the bush. A child's bed frame surrounding a barely discernable mound, with a rudimentary cross in the middle.

Creeped me right out.

found as something simlar once. left. in a hurry, just had a bad feeling about it. while chicken hunting NINE and i found a duffle bag containing as few t shirts an heavy metal tape, a squeegee and crack pipe, about 200 yds of the transcanada in the bush.looked around for hitchhikers remains....

the one thing i hope i never find is human remains.

Jeez. I hear ya on that!

I've wondered a few times, about who is going to find the bodies, if the gun haters manage to get rid of them all, and keep the hunters outta the woods.

Cheers

How about this thing? Not too far from town, but really freakin weird at the same time. Some type of bomb shelter or cold cellar? It was somewhat close to the remains of an old foundation, but judging by how little of the house was left, this is pretty old. The entrance was weird too, as it was a tapered hole meaning you could just lower a tapered concrete plug into the hole to seal it. Any ideas?

Looks like a cistern. A little too flash for it to be a septic tank, but was it up or down hill from the foundation?

Figuring out what could have been on the site, before the trees were able to grow back, is half the fun.

Be a hell of a place to dump someone for storage!

once got turned around on the backroads near alma, and 'found' the old New Ireland settlement, thought it was pretty cool. mostly cutouts whewre the houses were, and the graveyard is still there, I keep saying im buying a metal detector to explore it.

and an old log cabin miles back from my grandmothers home.

I found an Mp3 player this spring it worked for months before bumming out. some old cars, lots of old bottles, cans, pots, pans.

Years ago when I was still living in Europe, I was out with my old man and we found this guy hanging from a tree. Bumped into him just like that, 2 feet away. He must have been there a while as animals had eaten his face off.

:puke:

His watch was still ticking, that's something I'll never forget.

...why was he hanging from a tree?

do a google search. or ask anyone near alma (fundy park) to point you in the direction.

me and a friend had gone to gordon falls (elgin) but there was a crowd, so we just hit the road and drove. we found the 45 river which is an awsome place to take a swim, and on the way home we passed the graveyard. "ok, should be somewheres now" but after we didnt see any hydro poles or nothing, we turned around and seen the monument for 'new ireland' then started finding where old farm houses had been. was getting dark, so we didnt poke around much. but i found out that they settled in 1820, and left around 1913. peak settlement was about 100 people and they had a store with a post office. government knocked out remaining buildings when fundy park became a park, but ill bet there are still foundations and whatnot. would love to spend a week there with a metal detector. if your ever in the moncton area this fall, shoot me a PM and we can shoot some grouse and do some exploring.

My guess is that it's a cistern, for storing water in. Looks like someone was using it for a shelter at some point though

Well, now that its been mentioned, water storage seems to make sense. But that rusty bed frame and box spring made it a little odd, especially considering each piece would have to have been drop in them assembled inside!

Would of made a pretty cool fort for some kids! I can see myself draging a bed frame and box spring into something like that when I was 12

I don't see a water stain line. If it was intended to be used as a cistern I doubt it saw any use as such.
