Finds in the bush

I read this whole thread and thought I'd share one story that I will never forget. Of course I've found an airplane, old broken up boat, old trapper's cabin, cars, sheds etc but this one I won't ever forget.

When I was younger, my 3 friends and I were having lunch on a log that goes across a trail in mid day when one of us looked up the trail. 50 yards away there was an old man dressed in a pure white gown, with long white hair and beard and a white hat. He was completely white. He looked like Gandalf.. No Joke! He had a white dog along with him. They didn't make a lick of noise as they seemingly floated down the trail towards us. We ran like hell and didn't talk about it for several years. Me and one friend talked about it this past August and he indeed confirmed that it did happen. We both wonder what would have happened if we had stayed around for a chat. I wish we did.

Finally, I found an antler shed

You know what is really strange? I have been hunting over 30 years and I have never found antler sheds. Many people I know who spend nowhere near as much time as I do in the bush have found antler sheds, but never me. hmmmm.....

Finally, after 30 years of trekking through the woods, look what I found a few weeks ago.:)

I find the usual stuff like dead cars and freezers but my old black Lab was the one who made us smile. We used to live in a bush lot and he'd wander around all over, making sure that the coyotes didn't come close to the house. One winter he came bounding through the snow with half a deer rack in his mouth. He was really pleased and chewing it. I called him over and gave him some dog cookies and yelled "Go find Daddy another one". 5-10 minutes later he came back with the other half.

He got lymph cancer and had to be put down last year, but every time I go deer hunting and get my 8 point rattling antlers out and see the tooth marks in them I remember my Lab. Priceless. Miss you buddy.

This old truck is in the woods where I hunt. There are others like it further into the woods. One winter, there were fresh coyote tracks in and out of the truck and a coyote bed inside.

I think it is from the 30s.

I think I found my manhood once in the bush..wait, what?.
On a serious note, this thread is awesome. Cool storys bros..
Other than the usual trail garbage mentioned by pretty much everyone, the best thing I found was a Gerber axe, brand spankin new sticking in the side of a tree beside the logging rd.
I lost a brand new k-bar in virginia that I stabbed into a tree when camping down there.. If you find it return to -JAGDMORDER.

I know what somebody found, by a fishing hole north of Terrace BC, a custom built fly rod and outfit.
I don't know who found it, but I know who left it there. Me!

marijuana

not really a find in the bush but an old plane crashed on my great grandpas farm in austin manitoba was pretty cool to go look at that. It was just off the edge of the field so they left it. I think he was also told by the police to gaurd it so mormans/menonites wouldnt scavenge it.

Went on my moose hunt the closest to a bull moose I got was one side of antlers of a moose. Gave it to the wife of my cousin who wanted one for carving. She made cinnamon buns in trade :D

Gotta bump this back up, a rainy day today so I read it from page one, some of the stuff is amazing!

When out and about I've found a bunch of stuff, the usual garbage, a rusty folding Canadian flag chair, but my best find was when I was out fly fishing outside of Halifax a couple of years back, I went down stream a little bit and while watching where I was stepping I saw something the looked unnaturally coloured, so I reached down and picked up a really nice wooden fishing net, still have it and use it occasionally.

one day someone will find my short5rnd spare magazine for my cz858 fell out of my pocket this season

i have seen all kinds of stuff out in the bush around here. mostly just remains of logging and mining equipment from 30-50yrs ago

The plane crash near Tofino BC is not really a "find". It's well known by us locals. Very cool little hike though.
I don't hunt but spend my life in the forest. Most of the stuff I've seen is from prospectors looking for gold back in the early 1900's. I've found sheets of glass many many km's from anything (building a cabin?), mine shafts, old rusty tools.
Lot's of old carved up tree's from first nations from 100's of years ago...a couple half built canoes rotting back into the earth.
An old stove and bath tub on the banks of the Cypre River. Didn't see the old homestead anywhere.

Ever find anything interesting in the mines other than tools? I saw a show once where the guy was making a fortune off old jeans (dungarees) he was finding in mines. People were paying a small fortune for them for some reason.

Yogi,

Any idea how old the blue jeans would have been? Would they have been rotted? All I ever found at old mine sites was old tools, chain, and those mining carts.

Found this snapping turtle yesterday when I was scouting a new spot.
I was walking along and seen him upside down in some tall brush frozen solid. Thought to myself it would be interesting to clean the shell up and have it in my room.
I took him home last night and just put him in the shop. Then I thought to myself maybe I should thaw him out just encase he could still be alive, so as of now I got him in the basement.
So I should find out by morning if he is still alive.
I don't think his chances are good from the way I found him but if he is still kicking I guess I will have to make a temp home for him till spring when I can put him out in my fish filled pond.
