New. A minty Finnish Mosin Nagant M-39 7.62x54R dated 1968 in excellent as new condition with a perfect bore. It may be unfired, but not for long. Based on past experience with another late model Finnish Nagant, I'm expecting it to be crazy accurate.

Ok that is so unfair! I was happy tonight (until now) to have received a crusty Finn M91, and now you pop my balloon with that M39!! :)

Very, very nice rifle, Rob.

I found a really decent M91 and sold it an hour later at the Penticton Gun Show a couple of weeks ago. It had the same unique finger joints as those on Rob's M39.

I also picked up an M39 with a gouge out of the wood and a OK bore, worn, not pitted. It looked like it had been out in the field. It also lasted about an hour before someone just had to hit my price.

I have two Finn M91 rifles with excellent bores. One is a New England Westinghouse with its original barrel and the other is of unknown manufacture with a Czarist crest on the hex receiver and a replacement Tikka barrel. No SA or VKT stamps though. The latter is in excellent condition, the finish is pine tar. The Westinghouse was restocked and has a similar finish as Rob's rifle but is unusual in that the butt is Walnut and the fore end after the joint is Arctic Birch.

I was going to build up another Finn collection and now only have two. I am glad those rifles were resold in Penticton. I really don't need another addiction. They went a long way toward the purchase of an M1 Garand chambered in 308Win along with the winnings from the 50-50 draw.

That is a beautiful rifle Rob. I would have definitely kept that one. I hope it shoots as well as it looks.

Nice rifle.
What would be fair market value for one in similar condition??

You don't see them at every show in Canada like you do in the US. In the US that rifle would bring over $1200US, maybe more because of its superior condition. Canada is a whole different game. Not that many serious Mosin and variant collectors around.

Some of the prices I see some of the better or rarer pieces fetch south of the border stagger me.

I got mine a few years ago from "Collectors Source" and I suspect that a good percentage of the nicer ones in Canada are from that shipment.

I'd like to see photos of your M-39s and other Finnish Mosin-Nagants.

Very nice example, they are not rare in that condition but are more uncommon and tend to stay in the buyers hands and not get sold off that often, I have seen a few like it over the years. They are among the best Mosins for accuracy.

I got mine through a local gun shop out of Century Arms in 80's ( if I remember correctly!!). 1943 SKY marked with Sako barrel. Wood is marked up some but bore is mint. Very accurate with cast billets. Screw windage adjustment in front site is a great feature.

Paid 75 bucks.

$75??!! That seems like a lot.

In the mid-1980's Lever Arms (Vancouver) had Finnish Mosin-Nagants (not m-39s though) for $25. He also had Swedish Mauser M-96s for $45....$50. for the Husqvarna M-38s. And a further discount if you bought three or more. And those of us who lived in Vancouver could hand select them. And no GST. That was three decades ago.

All dressed up for range work with no-gunsmithing scope mounts and LER 4X scopes.

It will be a friendly competition between the new M-39 and a minty Swede 96 (Mauser Oberndorf 1900) that has a perfect #1 bore and shoots 3/4 inch groups @ 100 yds.
