Firearms reform rumored release this week.

From our friends at the CCFR.

The Trudeau government is preparing to implement part of the promised firearms reform through regulation, the CBC has learned. Ottawa could act as early as this week to ban certain weapons.

As another gun tragedy has just rocked the country, the Liberals seem determined to quickly turn this crucial part of their electoral platform into reality.

Sad. This ban would do absolutely nothing to stop another Wortman. The Nova Scotia shooter DID NOT HAVE A PAL. He was an outlaw, AN UNLICENSED OWNER according to the police and CBC news. His weapon of choice was a police handgun, yet he did not belong to a gun range and probably practiced in his rural backyard. Nowhere did it say he used an AR-15. And he also managed to acquire a police uniform that he was wearing and replica RCMP squad car that he used in his shooting spree. Maybe the RCMP should better regulate what happens to their own surplus equipment.

Police tracked some of his firearms from across the Canada-US border, but they couldn't track everything because of the intense heat when he burned his house down. Why isn't Trudeau focusing his efforts on gun smuggling from the US? The current regulatory framework works, yet Trudeau wants to punish law abiding citizens by taking us on the road back to the old days of Alan Rock and Bill C-68.

Where's the evidence the current framework doesn't work, aside from Trudeau reducing mandatory minimum jail term sentences for those convicted of gun related crime?

Why do Canadians keep voting for Liberal ignorance??

Some of N.S. gunman's weapons came from U.S., police say

RCMP investigators say Gabriel Wortman used handgun, long guns in mass shooting that claimed 22 lives

Investigators are trying to piece together how Gabriel Wortman was able to obtain the handgun and long guns he used last weekend in a deadly rampage through rural Nova Scotia, including how some made it across the Canada-U.S. border.

Police have traced one of Wortman's weapons back to Canada, but believe the others may have been obtained in the United States, the RCMP revealed on Friday.

"In terms of the origins of the weapons, who may have provided those weapons, how he obtained them, that's all subject to the ongoing investigation right now," RCMP Supt. Darren Campbell told reporters.

Some witnesses interviewed by police have told investigators about "a significant number of weapons" owned by Wortman. But verifying that information has been tricky, Campbell suggested.

He said Wortman's residence in Portapique, N.S., where the 13-hour shooting rampage began Saturday night, has been "completely burned to the ground."

"So our ability to recover certain evidence is limited," he said.
A complex investigation

For the first time on Friday, police described a complex timeline of events that began in Portapique when Wortman assaulted his girlfriend.

She survived after hiding in the woods overnight, and shared key details with police on Sunday morning.

"This included the fact that he was in possession of a fully-marked and equipped replica RCMP vehicle and was wearing a police uniform," Campbell said.

"We also learned that he was in possession of several firearms that included pistols and long-barrelled weapons."

The rampage ended later that morning at an Irving Big Stop gas station in Enfield, north of Halifax, where officers shot and killed Wortman.

By the end, 22 people had lost their lives, including RCMP Const. Heidi Stevenson, a family of three, health-care workers, an elementary school teacher and two Correctional Service Canada employees.

In the days since, police have investigated 16 different crime scenes, and tried to piece together the puzzle of how Wortman was able to get his hands on the weapons he used, among many other questions.

Gunman's resemblance to police officer made chase dangerous and complicated, say RCMP

Police have previously said they have a "fairly good idea" that Wortman didn't have a firearms licence in Canada.

Yet, he was able to get multiple firearms.

"We do know through witness information that the suspect did use a handgun," Campbell said. "The shooter also used long guns."
Gunman took sidearm, magazines from officer

After taking Stevenson's life, Wortman took the officer's police-issued sidearm and magazines, Campbell said.

It's unclear how many of Wortman's victims died from gunshot wounds and how many died in several homes that were engulfed in flames. Asked whether explosives were used to ignite those fires, Campbell said the fires could not be put out quickly.

"These were structure fires that completely burned to the ground with an intense amount of heat," he said.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised to pursue stricter gun control measures in light of what happened in Nova Scotia.

But the Liberal government has yet to enact amendments to the Firearms Act that were passed by Parliament last year, CBC News reported.

Where are all the guys that were chirping off about us being nicer and more polite to all the public to get more support?crickets chirping....we are going to get fkd...ya we should have been more polite..:jerkit:

There sometimes comes a time when polite goes out the door. It appears that may be in sight...

Am I correct in recalling from Civics class that OIC cannot supersede legislation, and the AR-15 is restricted by legislation ... So that means the AR-15 can't be directly banned, correct?

All these legislations are written in pencil with an eraser on the other end..they do what they want..period

OMG!!! The CBC is suggesting the reason for banning by OIC is because the government is so busy with covid!!!!

From the article:

If enacted, the bans would be imposed through an order-in-council — a cabinet decree — not legislation, sources said. Parliament's attention is entirely on the pandemic right now. The government could still introduce gun control legislation down the line when the current limits on parliamentary work are lifted.

No Debate, No vote necessary , Hello to black/two faced facist dictatorship !

I don’t need a buyout, negotiate green cards for the restricted firearms owners. Then we could take our net worth, homes and businesses with us. I’m so over this country.

Immigration to USA suspended at this time. I am going to check if there's any exceptions to certain skills/professions that they do not have a sufficient supply of for their needs.
Ultimately I agree with you. I have no wish to grow old, pay more taxes to, and die in this 5h!th0l3 country.

You got that right.

where is the money for the buy back coming from? western Canada is in a crappy spot economically. and Eastern Canada has never really been a big money maker. And that is not even touching on the amount of money that has been spent and/or not received due to covid and rail blockades..... like what is going on within Canada its ridiculous.
They should also be looking at banning decals..... because they had a huge part in what happened with the recent tragedy. Why do people who most likely have no knowledge on guns make gun laws..

Trudeau just gave away 9 billion dollars in a blink of an eye to students who will be forever grateful to him and will continue to vote for him and the Liberal party for generations to come, so to do a buyback that would cost a few billion dollars won't hurt him politically at all, unfortunately.

I bet the EE will be poppin' by the weekend.. Fire sales in the Black Rifle EE!

we'll see who the true gunnutz are...... the ones sellin all their sh*t early have lost the battle already. happens....every....time.

I am not selling FA.

By a fluke I sold my Franchi SPAS-12 about four months before it was banned. The guy I sold it to was a paramedic and he had to turn it in with no financial compensation.
