First round on ban list. They plan to ban semi auto rifles?...most of these are expensive non criminal preferred firearms. Of course no substantial changes in crime/death stats due to bans on this list.
They will then say we need to ban more. Funny how they are not banning any pistols...the biggest category cause of firearm death. So the major causers of gun deaths will go untouched on purpose.
 
CBC has a clearer list of what they are going after now. ALL AR's, M14, Ruger Mini 14 are on the list. M14 isnt even a restricted firearm at the moment -_-
 
I hope the provinces that previously said they ' do not support ' gun bans actually stand up and say it will not be enforced (AB, SK, MB, ON ...not sure of the stance of the others).

Anything used in any mass shooting in Canada will be banned. Anything used by ANY military will be viewed as a "assault rifle" and banned.

Time will tell

It would seem to me that if a person owned say... an AR15 and followed the prescribed rules of owning a restricted firearm.

And then it becomes prohibited.

So, at the point where it's now illegal to own that firearm.... would it not make sense to tap it out, install a suppressor and unpin the magazines?

The stupidity of this is staggering and on a level I have not seen before. Why not list specific models of vehicles used in fatal drunk driving accidents and ban those? Such an easy way to ensure no future incidents will occur and everyone will obey the law going forward. f:P: Of course then I remember who we are dealing with here.

Ive been dickering around with this notion for a while. I think nows the time to seriously look into this. Lower taxes, cheaper goods ,services and housing, more vocal freedom-minded individuals. Whats not to like?
Live in a red state,get in the game with a glock and an ar for $1000. Get your CCW so you can actually have a chance to protect yourself from someone like the nova scotia lunatic while the barney fifes run around in a circle. No more pal for the privilege of a god given right. No more non restricted tax.
Im hoping more of the people who actually do the heavy lifting in this country think like this as well.
The commies and their welfare queens can :jerkit: each other.

Don't think that for a moment. They are douchebags but not stupid. Despite the fact the NS shooter was not a legal owner, they are using this as an excuse to ban the "assault style weapons", whatever the hell that is, while people are distracted with COVID, media coverage is not great and PArliament can't sit to debate. Front page of the Globe and Mail this morning. However, the numbers are not that huge. I didn't see SKS on the list but it probably will be and that would be a huge number in terms of number of guns and compensation. However, pistols will still be banned, but they will dump that on the cities. They have been talking about allowing municipalities to enact their own bans, which conveniently devolves responsibility, cost and controversy onto municipal governments. Say your city decides it wants to ban handguns. AS an owner, you then have a choice--sell them yourself to someone living in a city which does allow ownership (likely at a loss), move, or surrender your pistols. Thing is, the Feds will say, "it was a municipal decision, not our decision", so they won't offer to compensate you, and your city isn't going to have the money to compensate you either. It's a brilliant way to enact bans but not have to pay for them......
