My first antique. I started saving alot each month with plans on a down payment for a mortgage  but I walked into the gun show with a pocket full and walked out with this beauty.

1897 Colt .41LC numbers matching 173***

The previous owner said he did the refinish quite a few years back but its is excellent condition. Extremely thrilled with my first antique purchase. Now thinking about changing to 44spl. I did pick up a box of ammo with it so I'll probably get a smith to give it a once over and then shoot that box. And then look for another barrel and cylinder.

Lockup is tight, 4 crisp clear clicks, seems mechanically perfect.

:D Congratulations C._F.

The "quote" is just to get another look at your masterpiece .... bandwidth be danged!.

Were it mine, the bore/throats would get slugged and handloads made up .... to see how she will shoot in .41LC.. But that's the beauty of SAA's, so many do-able caliber options, and a ready market for your take off parts.

The mortgage?, R.I.P.

Beautiful gun...those grips are gorgeous as is the rest of it.
I don't want to derail the thread but who did the work as I have my first antique on the way and want to fix it up??

Amazing looking. What gun show were you at? And I may be interested in the barrel & cylinder if you change it up.

I was at the kamloops gun show. I'm kicking myself now for not getting his card, but it was two guys and they had 5-6 antiques and some rifles at their table. Someone on here may know them or thy might even be on here. Jim/John mcphearson or something along that ways if i can remember correctly. Can't say for sure though I said I was from the Fraser valley and he said he was too so. He did all the reblueing and he said he made the grips himself.

I'm not sure what my plan is. I'm definitely gonna shoot the box of 41 I got. If I found a another barrel/ cylinder I'd probably keep the old ones to keep the guns original parts to go with it if I ever think about selling it which wouldnt be for awhile

nice man-tique I missed seeing that one was it the same guy who also had a restored .41 1877 colt for $3500.00?
I didn't buy any guns this year just some 41 colt and 455 brass and every box of 32 colt that i could find (seems to be getting harder to find)and a bag of 38 rimfire rounds.

Every time I say to myself "allright, that's enough antiques for a while" these freakin' posts come up with pictures so awesome that my addiction kicks right back in. Thanks...! :(

:runaway:

Just kidding... beautiful guns and congrats to all of you antique SAA owners! One of these days I'll have mine too. Hopefully sooner rather than later!

:p

Thanks everyone, trust me Ive been in the same boat as most about wanting to get one for awhile.

Yeah, that was the table. I never imagined I'd get one of these guns as I've dreamed of getting one for a few years now but somehow I had a major impulse buy but couldn't be happier with my choice to finally pick up one.
