Now i just gotta figure out the rest of these parts alg v3 forend daniel defense bcg and vlotr upper alg trigger group and magpul stock and grip. That leaves me the lower gas block am I missing anything? And also lower and gas block and barrel opinions?
Yes, the lower is the firearm and the registered part that you will require an RPAL (& ATT depending on your province) for.
For the upper, you will need:
- Upper receiver. If you get the Vltor, you're set. If it's a stripped upper and not a slickside, you will need an upper receiver parts kit.
- One barrel. Did you decide on a barrel length? GP has ER Shaw 10.3" barrels on sale for $159. SGW has Aero 10.5" for $220.
- One handguard. Some handguards come with proprietary barrel nut. Some use the standard barrel nut and may not include one in the package.
- One muzzle device ie comp, brake or thread protector to fit the threads on your barrel. Assuming you are getting a 223, it'll be 1/2x28TPI
- One crush washer or shim pack for your muzzle device
- One low profile gas block to match the barrel. Most will be 0.750" unless you buy a lightweight barrel etc. You can get a basic Aero, Troy or BCM for around $40-50. An adjustable gas block like the Syrac is not a bad thing to have on an SBR to help fine tune it.
- One gas tube based on the barrel's gas length.
- One Bolt Carrier Group (BCG)
- One charging handle
- Optics ie glass or back-up iron sights (BUIS)
Tools that you will need or might need:
- One sturdy workbench and vise
- One upper receiver vise block. The Magpul BEV Block is great tool that works on both upper/lower receivers.
- One torque wrench
- Depending on the barrel nut used, possibly an armorer's wrench. If it's one that uses a proprietary barrel nut, they will include the special wrench head that has a 3/8" socket for your torque wrench.
