Hi all,

After 20 years of calfs every couple years and MANY skunked years we finnally got a bull tag ( last one we got was in 2001)

Basically noone has ever shot a bull moose since the camp added a moose hunt to the deer hunt .

Well the day was opener and only about 1hr in to the first drive I hear 4 shots and after lots of doubt of a missed bull we find him.

Great first bull and lots of happy hunters

We only hunt mon-wed ( i had to come back early for work ! ) so it was great to get the bull on the first morning !!

what do you guys think of the growth on the side ? nasty thing !

What'd that thing look like when you were gutting him? I was gonna guess old injury, but it doesn't look right. What did the liver look like?
Or you could check with the fish cops.
Anyways, nice bull.
 
`i guided a bull with one of those on him. it was on his left hind quarter. the meat looked fine under the skin. the bull that i guided also had a lot of green puss around an extra point growing off the base of the antler. it was gross but cool. packing yours looks easyer than all the moose i packed out. nice going.

But yuk that growth.I dont think I would eat that fella.Every time I was to take a bite I would think of the growth.
Good advice BBB on getting that checked out by MNR before eating it.
 
Well we shot a nice Bull this year and it had 2 of those grows on it. We were told it is either from a tick (or similiar bug) or a injury from fighting. no need to worry. Will taste just fine.

Congrats on your kill. Now you have a set of antlers for the camp wall.
 
The bull I got last year had a similar growth (on the hind quarter as well). My first thought when I got up to him and saw it was "How the heck did I hit him there?" It was of course not a bullet wound at all, just a kullywunker (insert what ever word you would like to use in place of kullywunker) and indeed the meat under it was just fine.

nothing at all... It was only on the hide

Yup we always have a great time but this moose hunt was something special !! 1 hour into the first morning and JACKPOT !
