First Glock, 19x or 17 Gen 5??

Because the 19 is the perfect gun, and the 17 is only almost the perfect gun. The 19 might as well just be called the Glock "better looking, cooler 17 that fits better in your hand but does all the same things"

The 19 fits better in your hand? You must have some small hands because when I hold any of the "conceal" guns, the grip is always a finger short. Medium to large male hands, 17 is the gun to use. The only person in my family that enjoys the 19 is my spouse.

I’ve only ever owned 19s, in Gen 3, Gen 4, and now a Gen 5 19x. The 17 Gen 5 MOS with the front serrations is the cats meow. It gets my vote. Love my 19s but the 17 is a safe bet for someone on the fence. You can always grab a 19 later.

I've done a lot of research because I am also looking to buy one and watched countless youtube videos and decided on the G45.

First, make sure to get a Gen 5 version regardless of which one you chose. There have been notable changes that make the Glock a lot better compared to previous generations due to increased competition in this market. A noticeable difference is the improved trigger that a lot of industry professionals have been mentioning.

Second, you can also consider the G45 which is basically a Glock 19x but in black that was made specifically for LEO.

From all the youtube videos I have seen, everyone has been saying the 19x or G45 handles a lot better than the 17 or the 19. The 19 slide isn't as big meaning the force of it coming back isn't as strong as a 17 while it has the full sized grip of a 17 meaning you can get a better grip on it.

The 19x will only accept certain magazines due to the lip at the mag well however this is easily fixable as you could just sand it down or change the baseplate of magazines you already have.

The G45 doesn't have this lip and will fit all magazines and has front slide serrations that come standard.

As it stands, there is no MOS version of the 19x however there are some guys in Edmonton that can mill the slide to fit a red dot.

Thanks for the input you bring some good point. you seem well informed, have you heard of an ETA for the G45? Seems like a good option as i dont have much use for the MOS system as of now but those front slide serration are looking good so

The G45 is their newest model, hence the 45th Glock. Not sure when it will be available but just check on here, one of the vendors will likely post something.

I tried both the Glock 19 Gen 4 Canadian edition and the 17 Gen 5 before settling on the 17. Maybe it was the lack of finger grooves, but the 17 felt better in my hands.

Wait for the Glock 17 Gen 5 MOS. All the benefits of gen 5, especially the trigger, without the annoying cutout on the frontstrap, plus a flared magwell, front slide serrations, longer sight radius than the 19, and backward mag compatibility (unlike the 19X). What the gen 5 should have been in the first place. You are good to go for either IPSC Production or Production Optics, too (although the lack of mass will still leave you at a disadvantage to CZ Shadow).

I’d say go with the G17 Gen 5 Mos than you can throw a red dot optic on there, bullseyelondon has some on preorder.

Glock 17.5 MOS or G45 when it comes out is pretty much where im headed. Hell might even grab both if i get a sweet deal lol

Edit: how does irungun work?? That is a pretty good price there i think versus bullseyes
